Title: A Website
Post by: Archangel (aka SoupDragon) on Wed 25/06/2003 19:01:02
I knocked this up in about an hour; it's the webby for my upcoming game Path of Crystal. I'd appreciate some comments, especially from users of Netscape or Opera. http://www.btinternet.com/~peter.rocker/PoC/ (http://www.btinternet.com/~peter.rocker/PoC/)

If you have any comments about the demo itself, please put them in this thread: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=5678 (http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=5678)

color scheme is of a good choice, but the orange on grey kinda hurt my eyes to strain to see them, in my opinion, i would change it.

The layout is nice for a simple little site that you have. very straight forward.

nice  :D

I agree with the grey/orange bit.

I personally prefer other combinations. You can check my two websites for an example. They're not necessarily great colour combinations, but you might get ideas.

I changed the orange for green (thank god for stylesheets, eh?) and it works way better on the grey, although at the cost of making it look even more drab than it already did.

Green is sort of dodgy too, sorry to say.

How about some sort of dull ochre shade... or maybe simply dark green, come to think of it.

I've tried green darker than that and it doesn't work... as soon as I've remembered what ochre is supposed to look like then I'll try that instead.

Edit: according to dictionary.com ochre is 'a moderate orange yellow'. So basically, it wouldn't work any better than my orange :P I suppose I'll try blue next

Another edit: I went back to orange, but darkened the grey background down the side. I think it works now (fingers crossed)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that choosing right color for text is difficult because you have black bg and quite bright grey link box.

I made a little test:

As you can see the darker green is much more peaceful. So, I'd suggest some dark shade of color you choose. Ochre is, if I can describe well enough, bit like yellow, green and brown mixed. That could look pretty, try if you have time.

Other possible thing is make the "link box" less brighter, in case you liked to have bright links. Might even be better to do it that way. You choice. :)

Edit: Oh, you did like I said, before I had time to say it. Anyway, it looks good now! :)
