Hi,

I'm in dire need of help here...

As you may know, shortly, I'll be launching a music publishing house. All is well, but I need to get the ads running and I'm trying to think of the best way to bring potential customers in my website, in order to have a listen, or even better buy! :D The ads will be running on the net in banners in forums. So we're looking at either a horizontal or vertical banner... Non GIF/Flash unfortunately.

So...

I will be selling music scores of contemporary classical music, never published before at high quality and normal price. So the words/phrases that need to come out from the ad are the following:

  • Contemporary classical music (from living composers)
  • Nowhere else to be found
  • Accessible both in terms of aesthetics (not ugly music), in terms of pricing and in terms of getting a copy (easy to order)
But the main thing is to lure them in somehow. I have the confidence that if they come in and have a look, a listen and a watch (preview scores, listen to mp3s and watch videos) they will want to buy something...

The "from living composers" is not necessary, but the contemporary classical music IS! The Nowhere else to be found is my niche and the accessibility is something that needs to be shown.

What I have come up with so far is something like this:

The background is that of a contemporary music score. Something like THIS for example (cropped in the right size of course). In front it should have the actual book somehow (either in a stand or on a desk or on the piano, or something like that), even better if someone is playing next to it. For example look at THIS ad.

The slogan would read something like this: "Discover something new... Editions blah blah", or perhaps "What's new in the classical world?... Editions blah blah", or even "Access a pool of newly discovered contemporary scores... Editions blah blah"

So,

How does this sound? I have my (paid) graphic artist, so this is not about the graphics, but about what will be displayed in the ad, ideas on the slogan, if it will be successful, etc... :-/

Dear thanks for all reading! :)

Sounds good Nick, probably need to make the hooks a little catchier, maybe "Listen to tomorrow's classics - today!" or "The freshest contemporary classical music on the net (/ in the world / you can get)"?

Nikolas

Hey! Thanks! I almost lost hope that this thread would get any attention, since it's non game related... brrr....

Still thanks and I think you're right, but I'm having a tiny bit of trouble with coming up with hooks, as you say!

And of course this is why I've kinda disappeared from the various projects.

"Listen to tomorrow's classics - today!"

This one sounds awesome!
Like a real "catcher"

Tabata: I love your smiley and I'm very thankful for your continuous support!

[personal opinion] With no offence to anyone involved, I would stay away from breakfast radio style slogans or you may as well just call the site Scorez4uDirect.com. That stuff is fine if you are just doing badly formatted guitar tab or chords with lyrics, but for professional classical scores it would probably ensure I did not visit your site.

Go with something professional sounding making the points you have stated, maybe something along the lines of "Cutting Edge Contemporary Classical Scores. Professionally Produced, Unique, Affordable, Available Music." (only something that sounds better than that!). In other words, try and stay classy rather than "Now that's what I call Classical Muzik 2.0" [/personal opinion]

Nikolas

I think I agree with you. For classical music we need something classy per se... So nothing extremely cathcy... I think that 'Discover something new' is on the edge of being good, along with some great graphics and all that... or the other examples I mentioned...

Thanks

CaptainD

Hmm... despite my earlier suggestion, I think I'm also inclined to agree with you.  ;D

Tabata

Sorry, but I do not see it that way!

Please, don't get me wrong!
I am talking about only one catcher (fresh, young, different), to make the people stop surfing to take a closer look. So not the whole site in this style! You already found a nice classic style for the site, but you have to make people curious to stay on the site (to give it a chance).

" ... I'm looking for classic, but why should I get the compositions from this site, even I already have my own sources of supply?

- Aah! They seem to be a bit different here, because there are own and new compositions, so let's take a peek what this is about and listen to some  ..."

Well, it's up to you Nikolas â€" your risk and your decision of course  :-X

I wish you luck to you find something (else) to make it clear to all people, that there is a special site, noone with interest of classic music should miss.
