Ok.

something different from me:

This was writen 6-7 years ago in a studio in a single day. Not much time to do anything, didn't know much back then, thus production is not really nice, imo.

How do you feel about it? Should I attempt to remake it today, with much better production and see how it goes? I don't have any plans to use it anywhere, but if it's nice, why not really.

Any comments are most welcome.

I won't mention anything production-related, because obviously that doesn't matter... I also won't really answer your question, because that's really up to you. Just some intellectual and emotion-deprived comments about little things I thought about.

The piano riff (with its G and C) makes a bit of a mess of the B minor in the verse. I guess it works, and this genre does stuff like that all the time, but it did make me go "wtf", and it wasn't until the second verse that I was even sure about the harmony.

As for the chorus... The C to C#m has yet to begin to feel natural at all to me, but it's such a defining part of the song that I really can't tell you to lose it, can I? It might grow on me after a few more listens, but I don't really feel it's catchy.

And this borders on a production thing, but please do a guitar solo that actually follows the changes. :P

Anyway, yeah, sure. I'm not head over heels for the style in and of itself (which isn't your fault), but it's certainly a decent song.

I actually like the verses, but I have to agree about the chorus. The chord structure sounds more like a bridge, and leaves the listener expecting a chorus. Not sure how to describe it, but that's the impression it gives me :)

Dualnames

Not bad. I think you should try and remake it just for the hell of it...
But no one can tell that this was 6 years ago. liked the lyrics as well. Remind it me a bit of grunge songs....
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Sorry to never get back here and reply.

Thanks for the replies as well.

Eldkatt: I see what you mean. All the points that you make (including the solo, which I came up on paper :-[) are things that I like about the song actually :p. I mean I find really catchy the C C#m change and I like the riff going on forever inclduing teh Bm. But glad you liked it. I think that with a better production, things would clear up a bit... :-\

auriond: Really? o_O Don't know how to fix that. I mean the chorus is higher, louder, different. What else is a chorus? (geniounly asking, not playing smart or anything)

Jim: Thanks :) I think I will redo it, after all. Don't know if it will be in 2007 :-[ (since I'm SO slow at some things and there is no pressure), but when I do, I will let you know guys. :)

Thanks

auriond

I'll try to describe it:

A chorus, to me, is a musical phrase that is repeated throughout the tune, so technically everything can be a chorus. But in a pop/rock song, it usually bears a resemblance or relationship to the verse. Or the chord structure will have some finality to it... a progression that allows the listener to know "ah, this is the chorus".

A bridge however is used to tie a chorus to a verse and is usually made up of the kind of chord progression that you have, C C#m (same C scales). It creates a feeling of expectation because the chords hover round the same note.

Oh, I don't even have the technical terms to describe it anymore! But I hope you understand what I'm saying :) otherwise feel free to disregard my rambling!
