Alright, I have a room I am working on soon that holds a nasty werewolf who attacks the player.   I could have an interaction whereas the player simply clicks the weapon icon on the werewolf before it reaches him (providing some cool animation of the double barrell shotgun laying waste to the beast).   Alternatively,  when the weapon is selected the scene changes to first-person perspective where the player is fixed at that spot until the battle is over.   Added to this scene would be a health meter for the lycanthrope (3 hits he's a goner).   Simplicity or the the latter?    :-X

Ohhh tough prehaps if your going for just a boss or something do the second one. If you have a room packed out with zombies the second one definetaly. you have zombies in your game don't you? If its just one zombie then maybe the first one. for pleb soldiers and guards just use the first one.

If you decide for using the second one on the warewolf then make hm hard to hit. like make him dart around the room.

I like your idea!  Up til know the zombie count last time I checked was ...1.   To make the scene a little more dramatic  when this guy does his transformation, freakin zombies come out of the woodwork.

Which method would you actually prefer as a gamer?

I'd like the first one. You should only have a few seconds to use the weapon on the beast.. More suspense that way.
By the time you read this you've already read it.

Cool.  heheh.  Much easier to do.   My animations aren't too shabby I've discovered.    It can be a pain in the ass to draw a million frames but, for the effect it's well worth the time.

Hey NightRaven I read your other post in the chat about the copyright and the creepy rembrandt paintings. Well I would love to see a few pics of your game. Warewolves, zombies, creepy rembrandt paintings. sounds like a really cool horror game. I look forward to this!

Thank you!   Oh yeah, I'm a fanatic about classic gothic horror.   It is what I relish the most.   Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Sherlock Holmes(the best),  Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, Bram Stoker's Dracula.   It is that mood...that atmoshere that I want to create.   You know, I'll take a horror movie based on atmosphere and chill factor over a gore-fest any day.   A synopsis-   Jake Blackwell (black fedora, trenchcoat, and bandit scarf) rides into town on horseback soon to discover that the townspeople have a  serious problem...that dark mansion tucked away in that deep dark forest.   "Jake Blackwell and the House of Fear".  A vampire has taken possession of the house removing the former Lord of the manor and is, of course, depopulating the town.   He has his minions(zombies, a werewolf, giant spider...) and has been kind enough to lay traps about his new home (such as a swinging pendulum room where your arrow keys will give you more precise movement).  --
I am about a third of the way through this one.   My rooms look great...I only wish I knew how to place graphics in my posts.   I hope I can add another delightful horror-adventure to the community.   I know people have been asking about the genre.   Oh yeah, and some puzzles (problem solving) what have you.   I'm trying not to create one those "walking deads" that I've read about in the forums.
