This is something I made a couple days ago as part of a competition. The topic was "Fear". I came up with this. Comments & Criticism are very much welcomed. I didn't win, how could I improve?

Thanks for any input.

The image of hitler on the left is not blended into the rest enough. A blur around the edges would have been better. Secondly the text is to standing out compared to the hazy look of the rest of the poster. It should be slightly less on opacity possibly. I really like the red armband though. Nice work although.

To be honest, I'm a little confused as to the meaning of your poster. Ã, If I didn't know who Hitler was already, going only by the visuals of this poster I would think he's some sort of hero Ã, :-\.  I'm sure that's not what you're going for, but it's a bit unclear to me.

In terms of visual crit, you have a nice collage-style going on, but I think it could use some more layers to make the poster more visually interesting. Ã, The composition needs some work; for example, I think the red outline of the words make the poster too bottom-heavy and take away the impact of the red swatstika band. Ã, Maybe break up the sentence into different sections and move them around individually--it would help with the collage-yness as well. Ã, Don't be afraid to use different sizes and fonts.

I hope this crit was useful to you... doing a collage well is difficult, so don't be discouraged, and keep at it! ^_^

I guess it doesnt really matter because most everyone knows who Hitler was.

Of course it matters how you portray the subject. I see the poster and I don't think  of fear in any way, but instead I think of greatness and heroism from the way he's looking up towards the distance like he's some kind of saint. I also see the font and I think of cool and not fear at all.

I agree with edmundo this poster doesnt say FEAR!

You cant just assume that because its Hitler that people will see fear.

I googled some fearfull Hitler images for you, see what you can do with them   :)

Thats pretty much what the other competitors and ultimately the judge thought. I strayed too far from the original topic and didn't present Hitler in anyway that suggested a "monster". Instead, I've been congratulated on making an authentic WWII Propoganda Poster  ::)

Thanks for your criticism, it's helpful. I don't do this sort of art often, I stick too signature and splash graphics mainly. It's always nice just to experiment.

Thanks again

You know there are two things that come to my mind first. That Hitler by his expression is not scary, just some pointy nosed guy with moustache. And that 'only dead are free from fear'... and a picture of nazi leaders. Makes you think they were afraid of something as they are all dead now. And I suppose none of us is afraid of Hitler. But basically the second one that came to my mind is the one I'm pointing out.
Supposedly you know this, I just thought I might as well write it down.

Hmpf... It doesn't look like an authentic nazi poster to be honest. I would put here a link with some resources, but I don't know if others would want them too. Anyway, it's quite easy to find them in the Internet. Don't get me wrong but messing with such feelings isn't a good way to win a competition. If you had wanted to portrait hitler as a blood-lusting (is that a correct word?) monster, you should have thought of something like that:

That's scary!
