C&C on lanky Hippie character

So, I made this sprite based on a character from another game:

(ALSO see the pictures I used for reference, below -- I was however, going for a taller, lankier look, and was thinking of ScoobyDoo's "Shaggy")

I'm 100% okay with the not single thickness of the outlines and double/triple etc. pixels you may have the urge to pick out.

HOWEVER, I'm especially looking to be sure that his pot-belly doesn't look too much like a raging errection. I'd also like to throw in that "peace sign" necklace if possible (but it's no big deal). Furthermore, IF I could lighten his skin without it belending too much into the red, that'd be nice. And finally, I'd like to hear any comments or critisms you may have.

i think the hair kinda' looks like it is made out of plastic. try to add more lines for strands of hair and stuff.

Here's a quick adjustment of the hair, and perhaps an improvement in his body/ belly:

If I may be so bold, I made a quick, messy edit to accompany my hair suggestion:



The basic idea I had was to layer his dreads a bit - at the moment, the three gigantic locks don't have all that much volume - I attempted to emulate your style, and just imply a little more action in the hair area with some shading here and there.

And no worries about the gut - I don't think it looks like a raging hard-on at all - if the crotchline were much further, maybe, but at the moment, you're still safe. If he had a creepy grin, that might give that illusion, too, but anyway. I didn't change the skin color, but that shouldn't be too tough ultimately, just keep it more light beige and less pink.

I made an edit based on your original (at half the size), lightened the skin tone a bit and the hair color (so it doesn't match the pants so much).  I also added the peace symbol, belt, and other things from the images you posted.
