Manga Style Art for Character

Hello, as some of you can see, I have been posting a lot of Uni related work up. This is the last

I would mainly like crit on the Shading of the Character. And the layout / Style of the BG.

His hand is angled in a really awkward position.

Here's a quick touch-up, the angle of hand and shield thingy is still not right but it's better.  I suck at that kind of art (or possibly any art ). 


I moved his arm so it would look as if his arm is being held out in front of him.  Otherwise if it were off to the side you'd Never be able to hold that thing on an angle like that.  Your hand can't turn that far.
