The main problem is some of the frames are out of sequence for the second down step which places the legs at different points depending on which leg is moving forward.  The same applies to the arms and he wasn't actually dropping down on the final 'step' but one before, which also throws off the look.

1.  I made an edit to the legs to give a natural transition back on each half of the walkcycle (frame 2 is left foot down, frame 6 is right foot down).

2.  Adjusted the arms for more natural motion back and forth.

A couple of things to watch out for with walkcycle animations:  The left foot down frame will always be evenly spaced out from the right foot, ie, in a 6 frame animation, if the left foot down occurs on frame 1 then right foot on frame 4, for an 8 frame animation if frame one is for the left foot frame 5 is for the right, and so on.  This provides for a smooth transition and once you work this out you'll always have the two most important points in the animation to work from for tweening.  Also, try to avoid having the leading foot draw back into the distance before the other leg comes forward.  This minimizes the sliding effect some downward walkcycles suffer from.

As far as the sprite itself goes, you may want to work on making your outlines and highlights more consistent.  Aside from that I think you've done a good job.  Hopefully this helps!
