Title: Apocalyptic Character-Finished and Updated (Looking for suggestions)
Post by: remmies on Tue 26/05/2009 04:07:40
Updated  the picture so now it is complete. Let me know what you think of it. Any idea for improvements would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance!

I think you should continue the style and give him some simple arms with some haz-mat gloves. if you make them slightly curved, like this ( , then you can just rotate the arms slightly when you animate. Something similar to what a lot of flash users utilize. Looks good, I think the style will fit the atmosphere of an apocalyptic game very well.

Thanks a lot for the curve tip, and thanks for your input, glad you liked it!

I find him rather large, but that all depends on the screen size you choose or your style.  I usually do 640x480 and a character height of 190-200 ish because I like to have large characters.
Also with large characters it helps you make backgrounds that are less empty and boring. :P

Anyway I really like the cartoony feeling he gives.  Depending on the look of the backgrounds, it may look really well.

I notice his arm looks like it's dangling there and doesn't seem to be connected to a shoulder.  Perhaps some feet or toes of the boots sticking out of the bottom of his radiation suit would be nice -- unless you animate the guy well, feet won't really matter.
