Changed the Water, Im pretty happy with it as it is now. Changed the foreground pipes, added a spider web, Im happy with them also.
thanks for the comments guys please comment on this further version and after a couple of days work maybe I can put it too rest :D
Now all I need to do is learn how to draw an acceptable character and I can make an original game :/

This is the view from across the other side of the square in RON..... More good C&C like the sewer BG please :)
P.S Happy Bday me ;D
Nice!
Since it's sewer, I think you should make walls, ceiling and floor darker. Also, add some shading.
Other than that, keep it up :)
Very good, the perspective is quite consistent. It reminds me of Pleurburg. I'll do a little paintover to show what you could do with the water...
EDIT:
The bg probably should be less bright, I'm afraid my program changed the colours when I pasted it. I just tried to match your original, you may want to make your version darker. It's not terrific because I did it quickly. Hope it's helpful:

If you like the water effect here it's a simple matter of adding a few vertical lines in a light shade to create the illusion of reflection. Then an even lighter and less saturated shade for ripples or scum (in this case, scum). The scum shouldn't be too straight or too wobbly, and should show the flow of the water. I've done it quickly here, it can be done better.
Try to keep your style consistent. The biggest problem with your water was its smooth gradients clashing with flat colours.
Additional Changes:
*Altered perspective on keyhole(?) left of screen
*Changed shading on walls/floor inkeeping with a lightsource from right of screen
*Added drips from vent & changed perspective on pool below
*Added hilights to some bricks on back wall so you can see how it looks
Please Ali :)
does anyone know any tutorials?
I still say you should add some stray garbage (pop cans, newspaper, etc), maybe some p00p in the water (where do you THINK it goes when you flush?Ã, :-X )...
...some man-sized talking turtles wielding ninja weapons might not be a bad idea.Ã, Ã, ;)
Naw, seriously, some stray garbage would give it more authentic touch IMO.
I might try too... but I am really bad at art :P
as for the p00p and turtles (same thing :P )....
I think not.....
Watch this space for a paintover when I get home...
For now, I would add some slime on the walls, make the floor more textured, and maybe add a few dead rats here and there.
I've done you a quick paintover. It might not be what you want but I thought it looked ggod.

what do you think?
on that tunnel coming out of the wall there is animated slime dripping..
the water is nice but im not 1005 sure on the bricks
Hey Hotspot, I like this backdrop. I heard you talking about it on mIRC and I was wondering, did you re-do it because the image size was bigger or did you cut off some of it?
Anyways, looking at the image, it seems like one of those adventures that are in a sort of "first person view". It looks very nice, a very classical style and it has a good use of colour. Although, the slimey water doesn't seem very natural. It would be much better if you pixelled it because it looks like it's been made with a brush.
EDIT
Had a go with the water:

I cut 40 pixels off the right, it looks better that way :D
unlucky I did it AFTER the bricks :(
See top post for new version with WaterPLUS
cool pic
the door on the left should have a floor thingy... if you understand. and the water in your latest one looks odd with the squgly lines
No offense, but the latest version of water I am not liking at all...Ali's was the best so far.
I decided to give this a go as well ...

- didn't particularly like the (foreground) pipes, so I changed them
- added some depth to the door
- added the light source above the door
- added reflection in the water
- added some shadows
I really like the layout of this scene.Ã, I didn't change that at all!
Great job!
Nice work Darth. The water is alot better than before, looks more realistic. The shadowing is great as usual, and the extras are always awesome. Only thing I can think of now is to add some depth and cracks to the bricks.
that wasnt a light above the door :D
I dont like paint overs of the entire much :(its ok when its just one or too bits
Theres noway Im gonna beable to get it as goood as darths and now it just looks crappy :/
i know what you mean, but im sure its just the technique that makes it look better, to be honest i thought your original was pretty impressive. Maybe darth will let you use the edit in your game ;)
dont wanna use an edit :(
I dont mean to be un-greatful mind darth, its a great paint-over.

Not at ALL a problem!
Whenever I do a paint-over, it's more to give the person whose artwork it's over, some inspiration. I don't mind at all if they use my work ... but it's certainly not my intention!
So don't worry about it at all! I'm not offended ;)
I think your original piece was quite nice actually, and it would look great in a game!
Cheers!
Even if you don't want to use darth's (excellent!) edit, try to follow it. Plus, make these lines around water, what darth did, a little bit shorter, but make more of them. They could be animated too-
Using an edit won't teach you much, plus - it takes away the honor of doing the game by yourself. But taking edit as and end-point you need to reach, works as a tutorial, and progresses your drawing skill too.
Im gonna try and surgically remove the water and do it again... again... :/
::updated::
Sorry for double post.
Why wouldnt it glow? Isnt that a must for ooze, yet alone adventure games.

So I killed the pixelated look. Meh, I felt the need to jump in on the edits.
Sloppy edit:
Added shadows. With the lamp as only lightsource, the area not directly lit should be almost pitchblack.
Updated the first post with a NEW background :P
:p
Thank you
its cause the second BG isnt in my style :)
