Just finished the Battle theme for "Quest for Infamy" and I was wondering if I could get some crit on it.

Note: The song is designed to be looped, so the ending may sound a bit weird, but it sounds very neat when it loops back to the beginning.

I think the percussion could use some work.  The melody almost sounds too...happy...to be a battle theme.  Are you trying to write a song that is somewhat darker than the hero's battle theme for QFG?  It is very QFG-like, though.  You captured the general style quite well.

The song is under 1 minute long.  A player might get tired of listening to a looping song this short, especially since he/she will presumably be hearing it a lot.  Personally, I would add more to it, and make the whole song a little more animated (faster?).  The bass line could also be a little more pronounced, too.  Not necessarily stand out, but be interesting enough that it compliments the melody in a pleasing manner.  In a battle theme, having a good bass line really adds a lot to the enjoyability of the song.

One thing I would recommend doing is looking at the bass lines for the battle themes from QFG4, such as Battle of the Badders or the Necrotaur Battle: http://www.queststudios.com/quest/qfg4.html  Consider using the same rhythm for your bass line, if not similar notes.  That would probably help you capture a villainous mood, if that's what you'd like to do.

Migs: Thanks. Yeah for this, I mostly studied the battle themes from QFG1 and 2. I don't think itll have to be longer though. The QFG1 theme isn't longer than a minute, I do believe. Plus, battles in our game aren't incredibly long.

I might work on the bassline though.

Sinitrena

I like this song, but there are two things which I think should be changed a bit. First, I think it isnt dramatic enough for a battle theme (add some bass, as was already said). The second thing ist the beginnig of the song. I believe its not the best for the rest of the theme, but, sorry, I cant explain why, its just a feeling, or something.

Migs

The beginning is similar to the battle theme from QFG1, which is apparently what BerserkerTails wanted.  If it worked for QFG1, it's no stretch of the imagination to think it can work for QFI.

Well, the beginning is from Quest for Glory, it's how most of the battle themes started out. I've aded that to give the player a little bit of an "I remember that..." feeling.

And the bass issue seems to be popping up everywhere... Maybe I'll need to add more bass... Although, it sounds fine on my computer, with the tuba pounding out notes on every beat of the bar...

In which case you have a very tuba-happy computer.

I can hear very little tuba actually. Or ANY bass, actually.

But apart from that it be cool

Yeah, I like the music, but as Migs and Sinitrena said isnt like a battlesound. Too happy and slow, i guess

Well, Im searching myself for some "inspirational" Battle sounds and i found those. Maybe it helps.
