I was just watching the Great Escape with Steve McQueen and I realized how great of a game it would make. So i decide to draw the cooler. I like how it came out but I want to make the wall cinderblock but I cant seem to get it right. If someone could give me a hand, either with a paint-over, tutorial, or whatever, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

EDIT: Damn me! I just checked in the adventure talk/chat and saw the GE game that was made with LASSIE i am downloading nowÃ,  :'(
EDIT2: NVM its just called Great Escape (and uses the music)

I hope I can explain this correctly.. :)

When you look at the wall, the doors seem to stick out of the wall, but when you look at the floor, the wall and doors stop at the same place...

MarVelo

I see what you mean. its fixed

Something about this picture looks very off.
Some things to try that may or may not help:
Make the doors much more pronounced.
Either flaten the perspective, or make it even more angled.  Right now it seems like it is not quite looking in from across the hall, and not quite looking down the hall, but almost like it is in a transition between the views.
Shading.  Maybe the other things won't seem off if you just add some basic shading to everything.
Instead of changing the perspective, extend the floor all the way off the corner.

Technically, it seems like it should be okay, but when you look at it, it just seems wrong :(

Squinky

Why not make the cinder blocks in the same manner as the floor?

I tried, but it didnt come out looking strait. But I dont know. I will try it again.

EDIT:

Shading on doors, and did the bricks. It came out much better this time.

Good deal,

I would make the vertical lines in the bricks completely vertical, to match the doors....And add depth to the door frame and the peephole.

TerranRich

You forgot the depth in the peepholes. Otherwise, looking much better. Maybe some more detail on the doors? Scratches, perhaps?

The perspective of the doors is off. I'll exaggurate to show you what I mean.
You currently have them drawn like this:

when they should be done like this:

Here's a quick paintover:
<First time placing in a Sprite Jam. Neato.

Those lines you are seeing as off are actually the door trim (I think). But I do agree they need work, and I like the edit you did....

Oneway

I'm not sure wether you made this in a point perspective or a isometric one, but in every case, the doors are not the same size. Left is biggest and they get smaller as you move to the left. (Check with the bricklines)

This is of course due to the fact that you painted one door and then copied it two times. This would only work if the view of the door would be perpendicular to the wall.

Almost intentionally left blank.

MarVelo

Gottcha everyone. I set the doors in, made them all the same heightÃ,  ;) , and added some detail. Think things are very nice now. I really like the way I did the floor, I have never been able to do a good floor before!!! :D

EDIT: oopsie I was so excited I forgot the image!

DonB

Looking better now.. i like it!

Kinoko

It looks excellent!

But, I'm a little bothered by the dark marks on the doors... they stand out a bit too much, I think.

Squinky

Agreed, but I am not a fan of that "texture" you put on the doors anyway. Dosen't fit at all and makes it look flat....

MarVelo

I had a feeling that was to much. Well thankyou very much everyone.
