Title: Backgrounds?
Post by: on Mon 12/01/2004 00:36:00
I've only just discovered AGS and I'm really anxious to make my first game but I'm not sure what's the best way to go about making the backgrounds. Help anyone?

Did you not read these first?

I use Photoshop, some use Paint Shop Pro, others use others.

Good luck and welcome to the forums and the wonderful world of AGS!

Hey, Dragon King.

What tools are you using to create your backgrounds or do you have any yet? If you're drawing with a mouse in MSPaint or with a graphics tablet in Photoshop, the approaches are usually pretty different.

Also, what kind of graphics are you after? Would you prefer a hand-painted look over pixel-by-pixel art? Can you name any game that has 'your' style?

Here's a list of methods:

- Lines, maybe hatched lines to show depth with solid colors
- Lines & colors with gradients of colors to show depth

It's easier to start with lines and solid colors.  Some say it's easier to start with MS Paint.  Most agree a tablet will help you draw unless you scan in your artwork.

Well I'm thinking of asking a friend who is a pretty good drawer to draw the backgrounds and scan them in cause I'm okay at photoshop but I really suck a drawing on paper of the computer. And no I haven't got any yet I'd prefer for for all my backgounds to be orginal.
