Hi.
I've just finished two backgrounds and I would like some c&c on 'em!
They are supposed to fit into some sort of fantasy world. Like Lord of the Rings on drugs.
Here the opening scene. It's supposed to work like a scroll down sceen. That's the reason for the long size...

This one is inside a prison system in the very beginning of the game...

lovely, i really like them :)
the bed seems a little square and the door looks out of place, make it more wacky.
The look amazing. I really love the style.
The castle seems to be missing something, but I'm not sure what. I was thinking of flagpoles with flags in different areas of the castle, but that might distract the player.
Castle seems to miss bricks, I think. Don't know if it'd do much good, but it's worth trying! ...Isn't it?
I love that first BG! The castle reminds me of the one used in the anime, Spirited Away. I say not to change it at all... the white/grey look is perfect and it gives it a haunting appeal which could be used to good effect. Imagine, having music to a Castlevania game over the shot of this. It'd be perfect! :D
The castle looks too smooth, it needs more roughness I think. And at night the only real light source would be the moon so there should be shaddows below ledges and such.
But on the bright side, I really like the sky/clouds/moon... untill it gets bright at the bottom (near the bridge).
How come it's so bright down there?
I love the "Ken sent me" on the wall. That's classic.
Great. I love it.
I agree with Haddas, the castle needs bricks, and also with OSCs comment about the bed being too square, but I think the door looks fine.
Oh, nice. I can picture the screen moving down from the sky to the castle.
But why is there a cloud BEHIND the moon?
that realy does look wiers. A cloud behind the moon ?
And one thing a also noticed:
The whole casle has dwo dimensions exept for the bridge. Try making a second dimension to the tower
of the bridge.
Other than that realy nice work. You realy hawe talent in this department,
might I suggest stars... definetly.
also the moon, get rid of the shading on the moon and make it a brighter colour or make it look like it's actually giving off light.
agreement with viktor on the bridge, even if you add the supports on the other side slightly offset and darker it'll look better.
[or maybe lighter]
the lower left ground goes from crisp the blurry and looks awkward. I think it would look best if it was only crisp and no blurryness
also... the clouds. Might I suggest changing their colour. They look a little too much like the clouds in my tutorial but HUGE bonus points for not using the clouds from Monkey Island! hehe
otherwise looks great, party on
Thanks guys.
The moon definetly going behind all the clouds. Bummer!
I'm not sure I'll use the brick idea, it's going to take forever...
The bridge is also going change.
Mr. C: I couldn't your tutorial with the cloud that you are talking about. It actually took me a long time figure out how to make these clouds.
You surgest that I should change the shading of moon. i don't understand that since I ripped the moon ofÃ, from one of your tutorials.
Look closer - There's stars in the sky...
Thanks again...
I agree with the comments about the castle. I really like all you've put into it.
-When they say add some bricks, you don't have to fill it all in. You just put some in, in small groupings randomly, just to give the illusion of bricks everywhere. it doesn't take all that long.
- the circle/window thing is out of perspective and kinda bugs me. ( i mean that its enough to distract me from just enjoying the shot)
all in all, very nice job.
Looks great. The cell-pic looks a lot like something out of Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth. (or Goblins).
