Heh. That's from his "thank-you" ad to his record company, isn't it? Cash had more balls than anyone else, even at a ripe old age.

I think the biggest problem I see is the perspective. The guitar seems to curve away at both ends, which makes it look like a photo taken with a wide lens. If that's the effect you're going for I'd suggest darkening or (if you're really brave) blurring the parts that are near the outside edges of the lens.

The only other thing I can see is that you need a lot more contrast here. The face and clothing look very flat. If you just darkened the shadows of his face and lightened the highlights on the clothes, it would give a lot more depth to the picture..

Here's an edit to show what I'm talking about. I changed the colors a little, and shaded the guitar and clothes (a bit crudely). I also did some work on the face. Notice how I used a darker shade where the wrinkles are deeper, and a lighter shade to show thinner lines. Remember, a line can increase or decrease in thickness, and you can use different colors to show that.

Scummbuddy

That's on the verge of looking very Full Throttle-ish.  Which is good.  Very cool.  I wasn't expeting getting the finger. it was a good laugh.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

mmm i like the face and hair, but i think the other colours were better.  the guitar grain was supposed to be very light.   i think i will darken the face and hair it looks much better.

thanx.  any more?

Paper Carnival

I think the main problem is the contrast but the first thing that came into my mind when I saw it was the middle finger. I edited it a bit and I think it looks better now:

The guitar angle is a bit weird indeed

loominous

Think the lack of contrasts, as already mentioned, is the biggest issue.

Another thing is the lighting. In the original version the light is coming from, what I can tell, the front. This isn t a very interesting lighting in my experience and makes the image less interesting than it could be. (In my version it s coming roughly from the top right)

To demonstrate the points, I whipped up this modified version based on Bens:
