Title: Bedroom
Post by: HillBilly on Sun 15/02/2004 15:24:56
Well! Turns out I have been using an old version of AGS all the time! Anyway, this means i need to change all the background and create the game in 640x400 and I've JUST finished the first background. Behold:

I don't really liked the way it turned out. Too much space. Any suggestion on what i can fill the room up with(I really wanna replace the dart board with something, but NO PICTURES!), or is it fine?

(Hey, anyone noticed that the speakers reminds hell of alot about those in DOTT? I just discovered.)

I like it! It has a nice, clean look.

Anyway I think you should make the bed bigger...it looks a little out-of-proportion when compared to the door.
Making it bigger should also take up a bit more room.

Yeah, I'll probably do that. But still, the area around the dart board is still very empty. Any suggestion on that?

A guitar would look terrific there... And I would add lamps...  :)

Oh! Great idea! I'll get right on it.

Thanks.

nice image. maybe also a shadow of the window on the floor? That'll make the room less empty. And the bed looks very odd btw...  :o

Okay, I've added an guitar at the wall and light shadow on the floor(That looks a bit weird). But i can't really figure what kind of lamps i should have and where to put them. Standing lamp, wall lamp (next to the door etc).. What do you think?

Minimi: Odd? Waddaya mean?

I think what you said earlier is true ... the room feels too wide to me.

I made a few alterations:

* just condensed the room a little
* made rug smaller
* moved dresser to slightly cover poster
* added some shading to the bed

The only problem I really have is that the bed and 1 speaker cover the dresser drawers.  Effectively you can't use the dresser (except the top drawer).

I would suggest moving the bed to the bottom of the room and make it go from left to right with the head board against the wall next to the window.  And move the speaker to the right side of the dresser.  It would be a more 'logical' layout to the room.

(REALLY quick example):

But I definately like the style of art here.

OMG, you can do that? um.. anyway. The "blocking drawers" thing is actully an inspiration from my own bedroom. I can't access anything, just because my room is too small. So, i was totally aware of that, and gonna keep it that way. Anyway, you were good help. Check out the picture on top now and see what you think.

Is that oil on the floor there?

Anyway I think the shine should be slanted, not straight, but who am I to critisize great artwork?

The stereo should be smaller, one knob is as big as the speakers. I like the dartboard, and I agree that a guitar/amp would be an awesome addition to the room. Same comments with the bed + dresser as well.

Zor: Not oil, coke/pepsi/black soda. I will add a bottle as an object in the game. :)

shbazjinkens : The "knob" is the volume spinning thingy. Those are usally big.

I know, the knob size is correct in proportion to the stereo, but the stereo isn't correct in proportion to the rest of the room. Those speakers look to be 8 inches, if I had to guess by the rest of the room. The biggest I've seen those volume knobs on the 80's style decks like that is 2" in diameter.

The right speaker really has to be moved to the front some more. Blokcing the drawers is one thing, but now it looks like it is IN the dresser.

Oh... The picture are great but you should remake the bed. This can be bigger. It's too smallerif you look for the other furnis.
