Here's a pencil test of a character and I need some tips on how to make it a touch better.

I think you have a good start. I'm no pro, but if you have access to a graphic program that uses layers, you could add consistency in areas like the the characters head, that don't need to be redrawn every time.

I think it's a good start aside from the weird way she bends in her elbow when the arm goes backwards, giving her a shuffling movement.  You want to see her distant arm move forward when her near arm goes back as well.

It kind of reminds me of some of Eric Schwartz's work back on the old Amiga.

That's a damn good attempt, almost perfect actually. Seeing as you drew these frames free hand as well as hand driven, you have this far a good attention to detail. People say with practice makes perfect - this is true. But what also true is that we live in the 21st century, and what that means is that we have the luxury of items like photoshop. I cannot count the times an older person has quoted the old cliche that "things were so much harder in my day, you had to do everything by hand and read all the books!". This is true and i commend them. HOWEVER... We as a human race are generlized as being the smartest species on earth (for some reasons, I am sure :/). Therefor why not embrace the use of modern technology as it is the current fruit of our loins. Most modern journalists, contemporary artists and musicians would be sweeping the fecking streets without it. You have a talent, m'dear. All you need is a version of photoshop or similar, to keep the same head frame and attach it to that wonderfully flowing body. The beauty of photoshop and other image editing software with layers, is that you can copy and past an existing image you have placed and keep it recurrent throughout an animation. I'd hate to hear of you pulling your hair out, so please, get this software and make that wonderfully drawn animation perfect with a bit of modern technology. I am not advertising it due to legal reasons, but, you can easily get photoshop portable for free. Peace!
