Holy crap! This has to be the COOLEST character EVER! Seriously, it beats the hell out everything, even Larry Vales. And to that, I tip my hat to you sir. Bring us more! :D

Why thank you. I created him when I was about 10 or so. His look has changed through the years as I started getting better at drawing, of course he always had those big eyes. So I've decided to finally give him his own game and what better genre than adventure?

I like him alot, looks like an instant ags hit.:P ((http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/blubyrd.gif)?)

2 things I have noticed though, is that his front view looks a bit frightened...kind of like a blinded deer. The other thing, is when his left arm is swinging back to his side, it jerks a little.

Other than that, pretty sweet.

Yes I see what you mean. I've been trying to get that arm right for ages. By the way I love that Blue Bird smiley  ;D

I was brave enough to try to improve your fine work :)

- i moved the thumb to the other side of his hand
- animated the feet
- made his other leg darker

Cool, But you seem to have flatened the end of his foot in some of those frames losing the point/toe at the end of his foot which birds really do have. I never really liked using the further away leg is darker Idea it always just looks distracting and od to me. I'll try to implement some of those improvments though. Thanks!

Ok, I figured out what the deal was, on frame 2, the left arm part should have been drawn on the 3rd frame and Visa-Versa, making it look jerky. But I think I have fixed it.

:The picture is there, but it may take a second to load 95k I think.  :-\

Oughta scale him down and pixellize him. :)  All the things I could recommend would be contrary to the style.  Good work for keeping him in a consistent style.

Thanks. No pixilation in this game though 640 480 graphics!

Hehe looks pretty cool. Although the eyes and feet need to be much bigger. THe hair should also sprout out more and be less uncombed looking. Otherwise nice attempt at my character  ;)

Edit I notice you called it Ducky. He's not really any sort of bird but definatly not a duck. He's just a general sort of bird  ;)

Man, I like the character just how he was. The dark leg looks bad IMO.

When I was making the Blue Bird christmas special (http://www.sunfungames.50megs.com/bluebird.html) my brother said the back view of blue bird looked like a butthead so I changed it. But i was never satisfied with how it looked nor am I satisfied with any of the 4 back views I made.

Heh I sorta like what you did to his head but were his feet run over by a taxi or something?

Here's my new version of the back view, I think this one looks the best so far.

I like this dude!
The backview looks good, maybe the back of his head looks a little like a butt...
I think there something wrong with the left arm in the walking view. It get to far ahead of him. Like the shoulder suddenly grow to double size in one of the frames. Other than that it's really nice...

*GASP!*

This is just awesome to the max... ;_;

Maybe not as cool as my avatar but that is expected. The walking animation is nice, the arms are animated better than the legs though. The back view stays true to the original image as well... The feet do shrink a little I think though, overall it's cool. Good work. :)

Thanks, but how are the arms "better"? If anything alot more work was put into the legs  ???

Ah, I see. Technicly the legs have alot more "animation" in them but eh ok.

 ;D Great character.
Can you make a smaller version and e-mail me the frames?
I would love to make a Platform Game of it.
Can you do that?

Perhaps latter when the walking animation is more defined. I am still working on it.

One more thing you could do with the walking animation is make the hair bounce just a little bit.

You know I already tried that and it looked like complete shit so I decided not to use it. I am going to make his head be completely side on in version 3 of this walking animation so stay tuned!

the head currently sticks to the body, you should try making it bob independently a little

I don't think so, I've seen many professional games where the head sticks to the body with no independent bobbing and it looks fine (Day of the Tentalce, Beneath a Steel Sky, Monkey Island ect).

Small animation I made for fun:

And the third and hopefully final version of the side view walking animation:

The walkcycle is nice except for:
* For 1 frame, the legs seem to 'stick' on the ground
* The back arm, when it is coming foreward, it jerks foreward instead of being smooth like the other moverments.

But overall very nice, Tho I do miss the 2 eyes in the side view. I don't know if its needed tho.

When he stops walking you will see his two eyes. I'm just using a trait that is used all the time that when they walk sideways their heads turn sideways.

I assure you that the side view in this picture will be used.

I'm in love!

That is an utterly brilliant character.

By the way, is there any way for me to see the christmas animation. Apparently it doesn't exist on the server...

Maybe you should try sprites or something.
