Title: Box Art for University Work.
Post by: Revan on Thu 04/12/2008 05:57:36
I am studying Computer Games Design.

And I have made some concept art for the box of a game.

(As you will be able to tell it is very much influenced by the Halo 2 box lol)

Any Crit, gladly welcome...

I think your image might be broken. Or it's just me.

I've tried pasting the image link into another window and got a '403 forbidden' report. Better find another host.

it's hosted on his University space, which by the looks of things is private.
You need to upload somewhere else.

It looks cool and action-packed, but the character seems too disconnected from the background. At least to me it does...
I'd also like to see more shadows and contrast.

But it does look great so far!

It doesn't really look great, in fact it looks like a really rushed mix of effects, filters and very anatomically crude drawing.

Why haven't you bothered with at least getting the basic proportions right? Why haven't you used a reference to make him at least vaguely realistic?

Your problem is that you have skipped a lot of steps just to make it look professional. Start from scratch, make a rough pencil sketch. When you have a sketch, upload it here and we can give relevant c&c.
No filters, no logos, just a rough figure drawing.

Well yeah, but I kinda like just cause it adds to the cheesy, cliche, action film sort-of-thing. Which Revan probably wasn't going for...

And he can draw better than me.

Thanks for the crit.

Yeah.. I forgot to mention that it was concept art.. lol (and over the top action lol).

I will grab the pencil art I have done, and scan it in (as soon as I get to uni)...
