Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to the forum but have an idea for a game that I have started but am not far enough on yet to announce in the games in production thread yet - It 's called 'Maia's Twisted Tales'. I have my main character sprites sorted and I have done a couple of backgrounds but want to wait until I have something a bit more solid before I announce it. I dont want to give too much away so I will only describe one part of the game in detail and give a vague idea of the rest :)

Heres the general premise:

You play as Maia, a young girl who through a bizarre accident involving her alchemist father has been blown into another dimension. This is the Grimm dimension where fairytales are real and bizarre events are part of the norm.

The first fairytale creatures you will meet are the 3 bears (goldilocks) who are all frantically trying to get organised for their friends coming over for a teddybears picnic. Throughout the first section of the game you need to solve a few puzzles bringing various items to the bears including a certain type of berry for their porridge etc.

The guests finally arrive and the porridge is served up. It is only at this point that it becomes clear that the bears are actually part of a bizarre doomsday cult and all keel over after eating the porridge that you unknowingly collected the poison for. Making a sharp exit you move on..

Maia continues her way through the twisted fairy tale land encountering the 3 little pigs, hansel and gretel and snow white and her menagerie. With a trail of bodies behind you from some really unfortunate incidents and the Grimm police force slowly catching up Maia must keep struggling forward to find her way home.

This may just be me but sounds a little like Simon the Sorcerer. Y'know the whole brothers grimm tales intertwined into the story :P but could have potential. I'd definately give it a shot if it came to be  ;)

I think it sounds fun. Twisted versions of the classic fairy tales are always nice. Shame you didn't do this couple of years ago when we had a MAGS round with fairytales. ;)
This reminds me of Once Upon A Crime. You might want to check that out for inspiration.

Hudders

The books in the Nursery Crime series by Jasper Fforde might also be worth looking at.
