Well, here.
A nice amount of detail pleases my eye.
That's good.
But some things not so well, they are:

* whole room yellow? boooo-ring. make at least ceiling and floor different.
* dresser/drawers thingy in the middle looks like it's floating above floor... make the shadow under it extra strong and clear to eliminate this illusion
* the bed looks.... extremely tiny! The human who fits to sleep in this bed is probably very unlikely able to reach the upper drawer on dresser... So, what I mean is that the bed is total bummer and you should redraw it to atleast 1,5 times larger one.
* the lamp in ceiling is... very boring and small. I can't believe that this little bulb can really cast any light to such large room. Also, since room itself looks nice, it's unlikely that people who designed the room, left just an ugly bulb in ceiling istead of buying a nice looking lamp.
* The calendar has a word caleRdar written onto it.

Well, that's it. I like the detailed style and very accurate pixeling here and there. Making good shading, even more details and accurate shadows would make a masterpiece out of this room, so keep on improving and you'll reach perfecy for sure.

I can't help thinking how much better it would look without the black outlines. How about replacing them with slightly darker border colors?

As for the room looking boring, I really agree. Make the ceiling darker and with a different color or texture. Make the floor detailed, perhaps with floorboards. Finally, make the side walls darker than the middle one. After all, they are farther from the light source.

Paper Carnival

I love your choice of colours, I noticed this in your previous background. Some could say that the shading is not as visible as it should be, but I love it this way.

One thing I noticed is the door that is open. The way it is it looks way too short to cover the whole black area, it should be like the other door instead.

The main problem I see is that many of the objects lack depth.

- The insides of the bookcase (and the books) appear straight on.  You would be able to see the sides of the bookcase and the books as they travel to meet mr. vanishing point.

- The window on the side wall appears very flat and makes the wall look like it's paper thin

- The door (on the side wall) appears to sit flat on the wall

- The opening of the door appears to open to a steel wall and not another room

I would also suggest maybe pushing everything together a bit more (though that would require re-drawing all the perspective lines)  The room, as is, feels very spaced out to me.  But that's just a personal preference.

Aside from that, and what others have said, I think it's off to a great start!

BerserkerTails

The one problem I have with it is incosistant size. The bed and end-table are miniscule compared to the gigantic dresser and bookshelf. Think about creating a sprite that would be the right size to sleep in that bed, then move that sprite over to the dresser and the doors. The whole right side of the room needs to be shrunk, or the bed and end table need to be made bigger.

TheHidden

IMHO, this is a great background, it just seems kind of sterile. It's hard to believe someone actually lives in that room.

Maybe you should consider some of those suggestions :

- The light on the ceiling could be bigger - maybe you could go for a chandelier-kind of lightsource - you know what I mean

- The open doorframe should show the area the character came from, or maybe a floor, with half a picture seen through the door or something.

- The wall over the bed is too empty, there should be bookshelves or a poster (something that expresses the owners personality.

- There should be a lamp on the nightstand, plugged in the socket. (BTW, I looove the sockets)

- You could place half a desk between the bed and the lower left corner of the image.

- Unless this is a skyscraper, you should see something besides the sky through the window.

- The calender should say '2005' or any other year, instead of 'Calender'

In spite of all that, this room gives a lot of opportunities for the player to explore something. Lots of drawers, cabintes and books - I almost clicked on the image to see what's inside of this nightstand :-) Good work.
