Title: C&C for bg concept art
Post by: yourhumblecartoonist on Tue 05/07/2005 02:55:46
This is a mock up of the first room for a game I'm planning called Near the Delta, set in ancient Egypt.Ã,  This is the main character's bedroom, the game begins with him in bed.  The columns are supposed to be in the foreground.Ã,  It's going to be sort of a side scroller, with two dimensional backgrounds, there's going to be a garden you can walk to on the right and the interior of a house on the left.Ã,  I'm very new to AGS, so if yall would tell me what you think of it, I'd appreciate it.

Pretty good BG you got there, :)
maybe you should make the columns be effected by the light in the scene,
so it won't be entirely black.
:)

That's looking great. I'm a big fan of countries like Egypt and their cultures. We need more of those games...

They appear to be Greco-Pillars, and not Egyptian ones. Also, if they're in the foreground, they'd need to be a lot bigger.
Also, why is the back wall so blured? How far away is it meant to be?

This comparison (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/pillars.PNG) may help.

Thanks for the feedback, folks!Ã,  Good point, those columns did turn out a little overly-hellenized.Ã,  I'll post another version soon.Ã,

So I decided to add some perspective this time around.Ã,  I also fixed the columns and de-blurred the back wall, as per everybody's kind suggestions.Ã,  I think it looks a lot better this way, what do yall say?

Maybe i would add more details to the columns like signs engraved in it. I also think you could get rid of the dark outlines for the floor because it looks strange to me.
Other than that, great bg, and the de-blurred version of the back wall is a lot better.
Good work!

Much better :)
Though the columns that are further away shouldn't be so dark, as whatever's lighting the wall will also be lighting them. The wall looks much better de-blured.
