This is Princess Mutnodjmet, Horemheb's love interest in the Awakening of the Sphinx game. I need help!
1. OK, her head is taken from a photo and I drew the body. How can I get them to match better?
2. How does a walkcycle look in a skirt? ANyone have any examples or tutorials?
3. DO you think she matches the style of the main char?
4. What would be a good dimunitive for her, as Mutnodjmet is a bit of a mouthful!
Mutnodjmet:

Main char (Horemheb):

Any help is much appreciated!
I did this:
* fixed the breast/chest area up a little
* slimmed her hip lines a little (just due to the stance)
* cleaned up the outlinings
* made the skirt 3 colors instead of the multi color from before
* gave her belly/abs a little bit of detail
* changed some angles in the waist/arms areas.
* added the head (and flipped it horizontally)
I think the head might look a little on the manish side, but I didn't spend too much time perfecting it.
Walkcycles:
I did a walk-cycle once for a character in a cloak (which covered the legs) and I achieved a pretty decent result from just altering the way the shading fell on the cloak. (I'll see if I can dig it up).
(Now that I look at my paint-over compared to your other character I would add more black outlining rather than just darker shades of the main color)
Any way ... hope it helps!

PS
I'm looking forward to this game!
Thanks, the picture is much better, but a bit mannish as you say... I need the love interest to be a total babe! (for realism, obviously!) Maybe its the chin...
I also forgot to say that she needs to be the same height as Horemheb...
Silly me!
I'd really appreciate that cloak walkcycle, if you can find it.

I thought it was the chin too. So I slimmed it down a bit. I think she looks hotter now! And she fits with him now. It's the black outlined style I think.
The Cloak animation:

This was the best I could find. I had done a much bigger version too, but I just can't seem to locate it. But this does show (sort of) what I meant!
It can be difficult to help you, Andrew, as your style is very personal... I´ll try to help you (tomorrow, probably, ´cos it´s quite late here at the moment when I write this to you, but let me make some questions before...
Is the girl good proportioned? I mean, she seems too tall compared with the guy, I supose that as an "object of desire" the fact that she is that tall can match with the plot, but I want to be sure...
Horemheb has a big head, whereas Mutnodjmet seems to be well proportioned... Shall we keep it? what about the blck outlines? I think we should keep them to make her match with the style of Horemheb...
Edit: Guybrush animation in MI2 can work... he had black trousers which were "lighted" when he advanced the knees... I think it could help, in some way...
EDIT: My two cents are nolonger needed, as my idea was to make something very similar to what DM did...
Yeah, an update for the Sphinx game! This is one game I'm looking forward to.
Though I like Mut's picture, her clothes don't look Egyptian. A bra/bikini-top? ;) Also IMHO the dress should be white. And I don't think Horemheb would be pleased if he caught her wearing a King's crown :) Maybe just a wig like in the statue below.
I found some pictures of her, maybe they can help?

Sorry if this all sounds pedantic, but Ancient Egypt is one of my greatest interests.
Egypt? Been there, seen that... (Just wanted to brag)
Hey, just wanted to say that lately I've been enjoying Darth's help/images quite a bit!
DM´s art has allways been awesome, but his previous avatar (the ugly character of the "Goonies", remember?) was so awfull that all of us avoided his posts... ;D
Thanks guys.

"Sloth loves AGS!!"
MrMasse - I'm envious. I've always wanted to visit Egypt.
Hueji has a point. Perhaps a costume change is in order?
Arrrggh! Dear god, that is awful. ( The avatar, not the character )
My opinion, try putting the head dress on her, like you see in the pic with the statue, and see what you think of it. Then again, if you like it the way it is, I say, leave it as is.
Darth Mandarb:
HA HAH HA!! That avatar was the shit!
"BA-BEE ROOOTH? HE HEH!"
I remember you telling me my avatar is "scary looking"... maybe now I've figured out the reason why a lot of people don't seem to reply to my posts...
I think it was me who said it was scary... and yes, I hate you because of the disgusting avatar.
Look at me... who could hate a lovely clown fish? ::)
Any chance that we can stick to the topic, guys?
>:( >:( >:( ;) ;) ;)
EDIT:
(this is my 1000th post!)
Hmmm.. About the animation... Try and look at a guy with muscles. All the muscles move with him. So in this case, your animation seems flat. Try to work on the muscles as well.
Here's a skirt walkcycle animation from my upcoming game. I know it's not the best and it looks like there's a frame missing, but I hope it helps.

SSH - do you like the paint-over I did? Do you want me to try something else? (just curious!)
Do0kie - that's pretty neat-o! Do you by any chance use the book by Preston Blair for your templates? It's the one I use for a comical/cartoonish look (which is the one I use the most!)
I think it's a better example of a 'dress' like outfit (and bigger). The only thing I would do would be to lighten the leg lines in the fabric. But that's just nit-picky on my part!

No, I actually used a walkcycle found somewhere on the web as a template for this character. The template didn't wear a dress though ;D
Pretty heavy modifications:

this one from this site (http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml).
Correct?
loominous, thanks a lot. That one is really a babe, although I might try some oif Hueij's ideas about the clothes and headgear, but it has really given me something to build on. Thanks foir the tutorial, too!
If I just take everyonbe's input and combine it it will surely rox0r!

Correct?
Yup, exactly ;)
Damn you Loominous!!!
Just when I think I'm getting good you have to show me up ;)
She's definately more of a babe in yours than in mine.
Great work!

Taking Hueij's comments about what she's wearing and applying them to loominous's babe, we get:
which looks pretty good to me. Now all I have to do is animate her... ::)
