Here is my first sprite. I'm thinking of using it for a game idea I have, but more importantly as practice to improve my pixeling skills (or lack of).

Her name is Betty. Erhm, the picture looks kindof bare, and I think the highlights/lowlights could be a bit better. I need some help on shading in particular because I don't really know what style of shading would fit this sprite.
That's pretty much it. Oh, and I have a final question. I'm not quite sure about standard porportions for sprites. What kindof resolution would this sprite fit in?
Feel free to tear my sprite apart. Paintovers and whatnot welcome.

Its a nice sprite.
In this edit I reduced her height a little, as the proportions bugged me a little.
The problem with your shading was that it defined the outline, not the form.
I changed the shading, the haircut, and made quite a few changes to the face.
I hope this gives you some ideas.
Thanks for your help! =) Your paintover gave me an insight into how to make it better. Here is a modified version, it still might need a few tweaks here and there, but I'm starting to get there.
