Title: C&C Sprite
Post by: The Suitor on Wed 26/09/2007 00:10:09
I'm planning a new game and I'm still trying to decide on what style I want to use.  This is a rough concept of the main character. I was thinking about going the less detailed route (Since it's easier for me to animate and a lot of people could care less) but C&C and paint-overs are totally welcome.

Why does the forum display BMPs all of a sudden? Where did the nice "I'm with stupid" banner go? :'(

Seriously:
-Don't post BMPs; use GIFs or PNGs for pixel art.

-Don't post pics hosted on a geocities account. (The bandwidth will expire sooner or later and people won't c+c a red x. Put the pic on photobucket.com or imageshack.us [and convert it before uploading it, otherwise the hoster will make a jpg out of the bmp]).

-Don't post an upscaled version; use the width property of the img tag instead. (As explained on the site that's linked to above the message window [How do I post images, smileys and formatting?]).

About the sprite:
The proportions are fine, but there isn't much to crit, aside from the arm's color being almost indistinguishable from the body's color.

I like it.  Nice and simple.

Though his legs seem on the short side.

Well you did say paintovers were totally welcome...

Basically changed the posture to how I thought it was good and then detailed it. Basically redid the sprite in the style I've been using lately. Overall a nice sprite idea. I think the level of saturation in your colours might be holding you back a little - but that could just be me.
