Title: Character and sierra style talking view
Post by: Femme Stab Mode >:D on Tue 16/12/2003 08:19:53

:D

Whoever played my previous games will notice improvement, but I think it could be better. This is Corona for Afterdark, she's the main character, I am still working on my other projects (ie. the boobie game) but this is the main focus right now. So, I need opinions and critisism please, oh art gurus  of AGS.

She looks great for an anime style character, but one main criticizm I'll have is that the head of the character is obviously a shrinked version of the large head, making it too blurry, compared with her body, I'll say some refinements can be good.

Also, coloured lines may be good, too. :D

Yeah, that is right, but I like it blurry. So would it be better to refine the head or make the body blurry? hmm mm mm..

Hehe depends on which style you want, and how much work you want to do on her, I can see that the colouring of the body is also a bit blurry (maybe that's just because of the JPEG artifacts), so blurring the body lines may just work. If you want a more crystal clear sprite with more defined outlines, that means more work. ;D

[EDIT]
I quickly mocked up a version of her head (hope you won't mind):

I removed most of the black lines, except for the jungle boots. I tried to sharpen the head, I think it did have some positive effect, but I had no idea of how to do it properly, so  yeah.. it's a bit blurry still.

I think the biggest thing that bothers me is that she's standing so straight, a more relaxed stance would look better i think.

also some of your proportion is of mostly the length of her thighs, here's a little edit I threw together

if you're going for an elongated style that's fine but those thighs should be a little shorter i think cause her knees are waaay down there.  also the image of the woman came from http://fineart.sk a great source for everything and may I also recommend to you: http://www.anime-model-sheets.com/ as the URL tells you it's full of anime model sheets. Both fineart.sk and the anime one are wicked slow tonite but they aren't always.

Good luck!

edit: and since the anime model sheets site is so slow I'll post this for you:

nice edit Femme :)

nice char too

but,
this might be a practical problem, but don't you think the character is a bit TALL?

might be a bitch when you try to fit it in your rooms, but you probably have forseen that problem,

now I'd try some darker outline on her shirt, just a little darker would make it better and make her b00bs appear bigger :P ;)

Thanks MrColossal, you are indeed awesome  ;D

n3t, I am trying to keep her as cute as possible, eventhough she is wearing jungle boots, so her boobs should stay that way, or her face will disapear behind them.

If I am to give you some sort of advice on the head, it'd be to trace it. You can't really get anywhere by filtering what you have, but if you trace it it'll look splendid. :P

EDIT: Oh, hey, look, Gilbot already did that! And he succeeded! Er, see, I told ya. ;)

a lot better! :)

but I still think you should make the outline on the shirt (and maybe the hair)  a little bit darker

Some modifications:

Too lazy to write comments so I m hoping the pic is selfexplanatory. Ask if anything seems puzzling.

Main areas: neck, shoulders, armlength/hands, pelvis, legshape, boots.

You can be so much lazy as you wish, Mr. Loominous, if you go on improving our characters like this, and giving wise criticism.  :-X

The side source of light is not very convinent though, since she will be moving around, but i will take into consideration the modifications to her body shape. Thanks loominous  :-*

Very nice, Femme.  I am linda into drawing Anime, too.  I wonder, though, did you intend for the talking view's eyes to be that small and far apart?  In Anime, they should really only have one eye width between them.  And since she's supposed to be cute, you might try making them a little larger too.

EDIT
I don't reccommend using my edit, but here is an idea of what I mean. I think you can do better than me, though.

Well there're actually no set rules like that for an anime style, and I'll say femme's style is quite commonly used too.

Glad you liked it.

Had a quick go at the talkview:

To save me from typing I recorded the process which can be found here: (60 kb)

The process (http://w1.865.telia.com/~u86517124/Downloadable/corona2view_mod1_process.gif)

Edit: Looking at it again I realize that the lightreflection in her eyes is reversed - the big "white dots" should be facing right. Oh well.
