Trying to make some sort of village idiot/dumb fellah that enjoys beating people up character. What do you think? What could i improve?

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

I did this quickly to give you some ideas using only two shades.  To make him look like a bully he needs to look mean.  I also used greater contrast between colors so he stands out.  I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply progz. Tried to make him more bully-ish. Howsit now?

Nice re-edit ninjaboy!

and nice reedit yourself victor.. i think he fits better now with the new color contrast + he looks very dumbÃ,  ;D.

..but.. you quitted the zombie game? cause this style looks entirely different (same with your walkcycle)

InCreator

Good colors... but pay more attention to ProgZ edit!

* Lower the shorts! Only classical nerdsâ,,¢ pull their pants up SO high. For a rude dudeâ,,¢, the pants should be much lower.
* ProgZmax changed the feet so they belong to a rude dude, and not the class FatBoyâ,,¢. Do same.
* Give this hippy a haircut! Does Arnold Schwarzenegger wear hair like this? Does Bruce willis? Bullies don't look Elvis.
* Instead of idiotic-rude look, in your last edit, he looks more like a scared retard. Go Progz' way here too.

No, didnt quit it, but are suffering from not having any inspiration at the moment. And this is probably not for a game. Just doing some sprite practising :)

EDIT: Tried to do the edits InC suggested. Better now?

Erwin_Br

I like it! The expression on his face works great.

I like it, but you might want to get rid of his gut.  It makes him look less menacing.  The key is to make him look like someone that would beat up on people.  Think of what your school bully looked like (none of the ones when I was growing up were fat, just their sidekicks).  They've usually developed faster physically than the other kids and use that to their advantage.

Tried to remove the gut, and feel i made it look better. What do you guys think?

Mr.Crow

I reckon the gut suited him, as a village idiot bully, they arent always trim.

Seen as noone had any more comments on he, i guess he's perfect then :=

And here (i never stop) is another i made. I find that there is something very, very wrong with her, but i just cant put my finger on it.

Alun

Well, here are the two biggest issues I see:

  • Her arms are way too small!  She's almost like a cross between a girl and a Tyrannosaurus rex...
  • Her head is too small--compare the size of the head of this figure with that of the bully.  Actually, the head is maybe about a realistic size, but the proportions of the rest of the figure aren't at all realistic (waist is way too low for realism), and the small head doesn't fit--if you want the head to be realistically sized, the proportions of the rest of the body need to be more realistic too.  (Scroll about halfway down this page to "Proportions of the Body" to get an idea for how big the various parts should be relative to each other.  (There are probably many much better pages that deal with this, but this was the first that came up in a quick Google search.)  Obviously, if you're not going for realism but for a more cartoony style, you certainly don't have to stick to these proportions, but, as I said, in that case I think you need to give her a bigger head.)
