I've been heavily developing my game for a while and i have gotten to a point where i cannot figure out how to texturize a room properly. I am able to get all of my objects and such in the room looking fine but the walls look so bare and need...texture!!. I am using photoshop and their default colors as my gaming palette and because I am making a 256 color game, i can't be using photoshop filters. I am wondering if i could get help from the community to populate this room with some textures. especially pixelation ways cause they look cooler (Darth Mandrib!). Thanks for the help!

Hehe.. Mandrib...

It would be nice if you could show us your attempt, that way we can help improve it.

what kind of game are we talking about here? Love etc

Yeah ... not knowing the 'mood' of the game you're trying to set made it hard to know what kind of room to make it.

But I, the noble Mandrib (;)), took a stab at it!

- I reworked the resolution a little.Ã,  I'm assuming you're using 640 x 4X0 (with space at the bottom for the GUI)

wow! thanks man that is awesome!
1. which program do you use?
2. what noise setting do you use?
3. also is there a specific palette that you use? i am only using about 116 colors and still feeling a bit empty :)

whenever i attempt a noise setting it looks terrible, i must not be doing something right.

As far as I know, he uses PS.

And I think he redouces the depth of colors when adding noise, so, we don't get that annoying, red, blue, yellow and green tones when adding noise.

I think.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

1. which program do you use?
Photoshop CS

2. what noise setting do you use?
I didn't use a noise filter. IÃ,  selected a darker color and using a large brush on dissolve mode with 1% flow just paint over the area a few times.

3. also is there a specific palette that you use?
I didn't use a specific palette.Ã,  I keep the colors down when making BGs in Photoshop.Ã,  Then, in AGS, I use the hi-color setting, while maintaining low color, just so I don't have to worry about the palette!

Man I hope that made sense ...

Farlander, if you reduced the depth of the color to add noise, wouldn't you lose the depth of color in the entire image?  Anyway, you can produce noise that looks identical (to me) to this just by simply checking "monochromatic" in the noise filter
