Basically the idea for the game is that during the introduction you die. You were a cop and on your wedding day and your wife is shot. You chased the attacker only to be blown away by a shotgun. You wake up in the graveyard and your first task is to find a hat and jacket to cover your wounds. Find who killed you and why. Blah Blah Blah justice and revenge. I drew this guy based on Eric template. PM me if you want to help on game. I'll stop talking and show you the picture now.

Reminds me of Michael Gower... :-X
Sounds great, i like the idea! And the character's really funny!
I'd be glad to help with coding if you need it.
Story sounds like a homage to The Crow, which I like. Should be interesting. Are you going to create any mythology as to why or how your character wakes up for his bout at revenge?
Double post. Sorry.
Good Point DeathWing.
Good Point DeathWing.
I think the character is ace - really good. It's well drawn and has style - you know in a limb-missing, decapataion way.
Story also sounds cool - fundamenatly unoriginal, yet you've made it exciting somehow.
How will the character look once he has clothes?
One little thing that's wrong with him. His wounds are different sizes at the front and back so really you should be able to see some of his insides from the front view (at the top of the wound) instead of seeing right the way through.
If you understood that fully you deserve a pint, if not I'll post a paint over when I get back from work (already 15 minutes late ::))
I don't think that he looks like he's been in the ground at all. Iassume that he's been in the ground for over a month by the looks of it. I suggest changing the story to that he wakes up somewhere else than the graveyard, because you are not normally buried in casual clothes.

what I did:
- Made the skin paler
- Made him dirtier
- Gave him more zombieish eyes
And also... if he was shot... then why the hell is he missing all that skin? And why are his organs missing?
I couldn't resist a quick paintover. I may've gone a bit overboard and some changes may not be what you had in mind. Animating may be a bit..ouch. I didn't think of that. Oh, and that side view KILLED. Very hard. Anyways...tada!
Paintover:

43 colors I believe
The Original:

39 colors, right?
Lets see here...
- changed the sweater's color, added more detail.
- Changed front view skull
- Changed hair-do
- Covered stomach with more sweater bits
- Redid back view head
- The side view head..well. I did a lot there.
- fixed backview's butt
- tried to follow dg's advice, but did a half-ass job
Erm.. I think that's it.
Edit: Good job Haddas

blown away by a shotgun.
Still, a shotgun wouldn't just blow away the skin... and it wouldn't be so kind to stop and gently remove the organs without harming the ribcage,,, :P
yes... maybe, but he has been in the dirt for god knows how long, and maggots have surely stripped him, at least partially, around the wounds, after a month, or for how long he has been in the dirt-
When I read Preparación De Ensalada's story, I assumed that this all happened within a week or so. One day living, within a few days buried, bata bing, bata boom: Zombie.
Tiki pretty much did what I would've done so I won't bother with a paint over.
Erm, something needs to be done about the whole "shotgun removing organs" deal, but I wouldn't be sure how to go about getting it to look right... There's plenty round here who would though I'm sure.
I like modifying this character...
original, paintover 1 and 2

I tried making him even more zombiesish and rotten in the second paintover. he seemed to clean for a dead, buried, shot person
Quote from: Preparación De Ensalada on Mon 28/06/2004 05:20:50You were a cop and on your wedding day...(http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Image999.gif)
Hmm...Wedding-day...blue sweater...green throusers??? - Now this could just be me, but if he was the groom, then I would advise him to wear something a little more traditional (And if these were the cloths he was buried in, then I would advise the undertaker to put him some cloths on that are just a little - well - less damaged).
Anyway, I think you got my point: not really the kind of cloths one would wear on ones wedding day. So personally I would go for a different colourset (black of maybe darkblue) and a tie...most definatelly a tie. -- That is...as long as you want to keep that part of the story (wich I guess you do).

Haddas, excellent paintover but...lets see YOU animate every single frame like that. ;D
Cool character design!Ã, This guy gives me the jibblies.
As other people have pointed out, this guy wouldn't look this way if he was given a proper funeral and buried in the graveyard.Ã, Even if it was a closed casket funeral, he'd be wearing a suit, and the mortician would have at least tried to patch him up.
If you want to keep the sprite as is (and I wouldn't blame you if you did), you could tweak the story a bit.Ã, Perhaps his murderer killed him before his wedding and buried him in a deserted location, like a forest.
I geuss i'll tweak the story a bit. I thought that if he had a suit he might look to much like gower. The neatly removed organs bit, Im not tat godd a drawing but it try, I will attempt cracking some ribs and adding some organs. Yes unoriginal story, The Crow 1,2 and 3 are fav's and its my first game.
QuoteIf you understood that fully you deserve a pint,
I'm underage :P
I dirtied him up and used TIkiTikiMan's picture to improve him. Instead of being shot on his wedding day, his wife was killed at the wedding and he gave chase to the killers. A week later they come back to finish him of while he is drunk. He hasn't been to work because of what happened to his wife and he sits in his aprtment for a while until finally he wakes up. If anybody has an ideaas to his waking up please tell. but don't make them to Crow like. The talk animation looks like it will be hard.

I also added some organs just to make Os happy.
This walkcycle took ages, but HUZZUH it is finished.

I like the idea! Drawing has turned out pretty good aswell.
But just saying this is wasting space in critics lounge. so...
- Eye holes in skull are usually bigger than eyes itsself.
- Skull needs a bit more darker gray to shade it out better.
- Skull looks a bit too flat at the top. Add a pixelwide line onto top of the skull to correct it.
- Walkcycle is absolutely okay. Maybe add driping blood to it? Just an idea.
- Another way to improve the walkcycle is to add a shadow of the hand onto pants while it moves over them.
- Work with the talk-view. Human beings usually lower the jaw to open the mouth, instead of moving whole head and keeping jaw still.
The walkcycle is nice, but maybe make it a little slower and zombielike. But hey, I can't animate for shit, so don't take me too seriously. I only draw random characters :P
I trying to stay away from the stereotype. This guy has resence of mind and intelliganence.
Nice to see Eric's template getting some use :P
Great work though.
Photorealistic picture i drew.

Heh, skull would be a lot smaller.

I would also suggest that you move it to the day before the wedding or something, not day of, just to get rid of the confusion.

Say tha again and i'll slap you silly. ;)
Look what you have acomplished. Some people only dream that they could create characters that good.
But all in all this is great. The art is great and the walkcicle is pretty smooth. But try patching up the talk wiew a bit...

:DÃ, Oops!Ã, I meant "before his wedding."
I drew him after he finds some clothes. I gave him a bowler and a zip up jacket. I need to draw a scarf but it didn't look right. Can you help me?
