Title: Character needs detailing! (walkcycle inside)
Post by: Chicky on Mon 30/01/2006 12:20:33
Howdy all.

I've got this here character that i've drawn for my current project, you see i've now finished game and am looking to clean things up a little and give the whole porject a bit of jazz.

(sorry about the watermark)

As you can see the character is two tone, with two colours.  I need the character to look realistic enough to fit in with my background art. At the moment the two colours do the job but leave too much to the imagination. He needs clothing, and skin tone!

I was wondering if someone could have a quick shot at clothing this frame so i can get some ideas where to work from, i'm not the best guy at spriting realistic characters as it is.  ::)

Looks smooth and stylish at the moment.

I'd say leave him like this depending on your background art. This thread deserves more attention than it's gotten really like what you have so far.

Share some backgrounds... the character might work just fine as it is.  ;D

I think that there is one or two frames missing from the end. He kinda jumps a bit.

But I love it! The two colour idea works very well and will give a very good impression depending on the Bgs, of course. Do share a couple of BGs so we know what we're talking about. Because without that I'd say that it's perfect as it is!

very hardcore. The character might get lost in the dark spots though

How much detail do you want?  I can't tell from a silhouette what kind of detail you are after, so I made a quick edit to show some varying levels of detail.

Please don't post images for edit in jpeg format.  There were alot more colors in this image than needed.

1.  Added skin tone and added color and highlights to clothing.

2.  Made left leg longer and added left arm.  Shortened arm length somewhat.

Also, for walking you're going to want to reverse the arm/leg motions.  Right now in your animation the right arm moves with the right leg, which is not natural.

Hope this helps.

You know progz, it's not natural to move same leg same hand but in this case I'm willing to make an excpetion.

Normally that would make a human move like a monkey but the way that he's stadning and he has his arms like that, he looks so depressed and all that I think that moving same lef same hand would fit THIS character!

Emmm, but the BG, it is in different resolution than the character? Cause he seems a little "cut off" from the BG. And I agree that he would get lost to the dark places. But I wouldn't mind again! A bit controversial but I wouldn't mind loosing the character every now and then because it's too dark. It happens in real life, why not in games?

Reading is fundamental, Nik!  ;)
