Title: Character- Regular Guy
Post by: eternal_renegade on Wed 05/07/2006 00:57:08
I tend to try and be simplistic, this is however is the only character I am pleased with that I created. Really it's my first actual sucessful character, now I am looking for some C&C on it. Thank you!

the black outlines are a little inconsistent. You haven't outlined the hair, but you outlined the insides of the arms. I'd suggest either outlining only on the outside, or outlineing everything. Also, the shirt is almost the same colour as the skin, makes it a little difficult to see. Perhaps a darker colour?

Unless his hands are in his pockets, I'd say the arms a hand-length short. I'd also recommend outlining the hair and possibly dropping the outline on the interior of the arms (as you did on the legs) for consistency's sake.

First of all good start!

Now a few things:

1. you should save your sprite into .png or . gif or .pcx format because pixel art and jpg don't go together. Because jpg is a format for images with a true color palete and saveing your few color sprite in it only make it look disort.

2. outlines, you should always outline with little darker color than area that you wanna outline is. You can see this on my paintover.

3. try to use colors in much interesting way, your sprite looks pale and his eyes are black. Try to put some imagination in it.
