Hello,
I made these the other day for the AGS community
It's a template of a character that you can paint over or get inspiration from for walk cycles

He has no hands really, just tentacles. I suggest addings hands if you use it.
I'm especially happy with the down walk cycle. I'd give out my photoshop files but they're a mess and not in any way organized that another human besides myself could understand them.
Also, as it appears in a post Zor made, some people might not know how to use a sprite sheet. What you do is when you want to import this into AGS you choose this image and then make a selection that takes up the first image inside the green boarders for frame 1. Then do it again but for frame 2. This way you don't have a folder full of "Walkup1.bmp Walkup2.bmp etc..."
I'm not too happy with the walking up animation so if anyone feels they can edit it to make it [or any of them] better then feel free.
Either way, enjoy!
Eric
awesome! good job eric
Great stuff, especially the down walkcycle, I can see why you're happy with it. The side, and the character itself, are very nice as well. Something does seem off with the legs on the up walkcycle, can't really tell at the moment because of the speed.
I'm sure everyone will really appreciate these. Nice work.
Excellent job eric, I bet people (including me) will have lots of use for it.
brilliant, although down does look a little like he hopping. would do an edit, but its just to damn good :)
Yay, no floppy hands!
Great work - although you do realize you have just created and upsugence of AGS games about nude, greyskinned unichs.
(which is good, it's about time there were games about me)
Dammit Eric. You always have to make everything so easy. Now I have to start tracing your art all over again! Why dont you think about yourself for once!
...
Aww, I wuz juz joking Ehwick. I wuv you!
Yes, don't we all love Eric...
Great Art as always...The animations themselves are smooth, and that's the way I like it.
The up animation is smooth, but weird. All I see is a bunch of pixels being thrown all over the place.
About the sprite sheet thing...I never realised this because all my games were done in 256 color. Only hi-color games have then option to import from clip-board.
Buy yeah, brilliant work!
Awesome!Ã, Thank you very much.
These will come in awefully handy so I can fix up my walkcycles some.
But never the less, awesome work.Ã, Thank you.
zor: What? This has nothing to do with bit depth or anything
(http://sylpher.com/kafka/junk/t1.gif)
Choose the sprite sheet [after resaving as a bmp or pcx]
Zoom in if you want and select everything inside the green boxes
(http://sylpher.com/kafka/junk/t3.gif)
click the mouse button and you've snagged the image, repeat from the top until you have them all.
Wow, brilliant job, Eric! I really like these. :)
Thanks! Nice resource, I was missing good north and south animations.
/me thumbs up!
Oh...dang. If I had known this before it would have made my life all the easier...
Well...Thanks, hehe (I'm such a dumbass, I never figuered out I had to right click...)
Whooo! FIRST USAGE IS MINE!

Hey Ensalada, wouldn't you be able to see that guys long coat between the legs? Otherwise great use of that template.
Second usage is mine.

I know my paintover has errors in it, but I'll get rid of those as soon as possible.
Thank you, Eric. :)
No worries, I hope it gets used and no one steals credit for it
Nice template.
The down-animation makes him a bit bow-legged, or like he's taking really long strides. That's basically my only c&c.
They are over all perfectly smooth and nice.
Awesome. Awesome to the max!
Those are great, really good reference material! The animations are a bit exaggerated - which is good, because you learn a lot just by looking at them. :D
Excellent. I figured out what's wrong with the back view, though: the exaggerated perspective of the front view has been turned upside down. The feet should be closer to the center when they're further away from you, and vice versa.
Now all i need to do is make a game where the only characters are greyish android clones who walk around naked....
*idea*
omg, this is gonna be good :)
Awsome!
I think this should be sticked ;D
Wow Eric! Those are freaking great!

Maybe not stick this thread ... but we could create a thread where people could post similar things like this?
A character template thread?Ã, That way not everybody's character walk cycles will look like Eric's?Ã, (not that that's a bad thing)
Might be interesting ...
that would be nice, because i was very close to finishing my own walk cycle template for people to download, and mine has running, sneaking and other views. Didn't Evil just release a character template too? I wish a central hub for downloads of templates, guis fonts, music was finally made and available.
This is awsome. My animations look way better now that I took a peek at your template.
Awesome! I made my first character, just by having good looks at your old walkcycle tutor, but now I also have a good example for the front. I don't like paintovers, because it gives me the feeling of stealing work ;)
Thanks again!
I had a go at fixing the up view, since Eric wasn't happy with it. Like Cerulean said, it was a problem with the perspective being inverted.

It's not as polished as the original animations, particularly in terms of shading, but people are meant to paint over it anyway, right? Besides, this is my first try at anything like this. C+C welcome.
Thanks to Eric for making such a cool template! I hope this little tweak will come in handy for someone.
Edit: When I looked at the animation, I realized the guy was walking with his legs spread out like crazy. This looks a bit more normal, I think.
