Title: Character Transformation
Post by: joelphilippage on Wed 27/01/2010 01:34:24

Do these to characters merge well? Are there any effects I could add to liven this animation up? Thanks.

I'm a little disturbed by how the hair sticks straight out before falling. Maybe it can grow out downwards, overlapping the shrinking hood?

Do you mean for her to rise into the air?  At first I thought she was getting taller, then I realized that her feet are moving up.

I agree that the hair is a bit disturbing, partly because it looks like a solid block and not blowing hair.  How to fix that, I don't know; I suck at hair :P  (The cape has a similar problem; it doesn't really look like cloth blowing in the wind.)

Her sleeve animation is awesome, though!

A few issues from a non graphic guy!

1. Apart from the transformation, the person is standing still (the right hand is lifted). This is highly unnatural.
2. The hair as mentioned and the rising in the air.
but mainly
3. For effect, just add various particles flying, like any magician waving magic. Dots, waves, clouds, whatever to get the feeling that magic is being done.

I think that her feet would bend down when lifting up. Also, her harms would move away from her body a little.

First frame sticks out like a sore thumb.

Pants and shoes just disappear at frame 2 and that's not very good.

Also, instead of shrinking into neck, cape could break into pieces (or long strips) and float away.
If you could do this part right, nobody would notice much else - problems included.

I've updated the animation taking in mind your suggestions. I think these improvements do help. The cape doesn't look like it's being pulled in so much as shredding, which is the effect I wanted. It looks a bit like it's going through a wood chipper though.
