Hi all,
I recently made this piece using FLStudio and I was wondering what you thought of it. I know it is lacking in strings but i don't know what to add in that department.

Sam.

very bassy. id shorten the introduction as it goes on for ages. add more vareity in instruments, maybe some piscicato (sp) strings adding to the rythm or a string section intead of one of the electronic buzzers.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Interesting Alec, interesting! Now, I have no qualms with the timing of the piece - I don't think the length of the drum into necessarily matters, especially if it's being used whilst text is on screen for an intro or something. Even as a background track it's not too much of a problem how long that intro goes on for. Listening to it as a "SONG" certainly makes it seem odd but when you listen to it "IN-GAME" I'm sure it'll be fine.

However, the strange use of a drum beat over low-bassy sounds that don't seem to stick to any sort of procedure or timings sound a little odd. They would probably work better if they didn't have a drum accompniment. It'd create a much darker, more forboding atmosphere in my opinion.

Good none the less. Does this mean you'll be making a Fruity Loops theme or do you still want mine? ;) And - you've just created a whole new question. Is Chronicles using MP3 or MIDI ?????

Hey!!

I think that this piece is too extended to maintain interest. This is just my personal opinion, though. Variation and formula make songs coherent to the listener. If you pretty much use two chords that alternate every four beats, the song is going to be pretty boring. I think that the last four bars or so (with the undercurrent of bass?) would make a good introduction to something. I personally would cut the drum intro in half, and tack the last four bars on after it. Then I'd develop that premise into a song.

Needs more ghost notes in the drum track. Maybe a rap bass to backup the drumbeat, too.

UNfortunatley, my music career has been cut short. My FLStudio has bugs that don't let it work. Alas, this may be the last mpiece of music you hear from me.... savour it. *sniff*
