Hi!
I have been very much busy on my MAGS game these few days, and I made an animatedbackground. Plz tell me your opinion on this one, and also on the overall graphics.

this the updated version over the one beneath.

inside your home where mum and dad will be.

the walk animation of the main character

an ingame screenshot, wich shows the place you are starting at.

another background for the game, with some footprints of the yeti on the ground, and some ice, and mirroreffect of the icebergs.

Hey there, I really like your backgrounds and your penguin! Ice & snow are really hard to get right for me, so that's pretty impressive in my opinion.  As for the light in the animation, it seems too wide spread.  What I mean is, the light source doesn't seem like it could illuminate so brightly but hey I've never been in one of those huts there sooo what do I know?

If I drew the candles, I'd have the light be lower and very restricted to the general area around them.  Add some shade underneath the table there and you're set! :)

This would be very fun to play, did you name the penguin yet?

thanks for your reply, and im going to add some shade and redeem the brightness a bit. I think that this could become a pretty nice game, also because it will be the first one I release, and I kinda like the scene, because there aren't much games about antartica and penguins ;) ... apart from tuxracer and penguin adventure from the MSX ;)!

dunno if youve noticed, your penguin is transparent :) this is due to white transparancy is the same as used inside the penguin

Hobbes

It's teh spezial penguin power!!!1!!

Err.

But seriously:

It looks very nice! I can see you've let Bryce handle a few things, but I think I detect a few tracing-things here? It looks good!

Also, the penguin seems very nicely animated. Am interested in the mythos of the Yeti.... read "Thief of Time" by Terry Pratchett for a rather novel idea on Yeti's. :)

Perhaps it is my monitor, or even my browser, but it seems to me that the difference between light and dark is too much.  As if the candles are flares going on and off.  The effect might be nicer if it were subtler.  Also, the animation seems kind of jarring.  I'm fairly sure animated backgrounds can support up to six frames.  Perhaps you should take advantage of that.

to hobbes : I already have my own idea on the Yeti! ;) I hope you'll like it, but it's nothing you'll expect! ;D And yes, you can see Bryce here, thats where I know everything about... so I do everything in it, and yes I also have traced the pics.

to custard :About that transparency ; I don't quite know the problem. When I import the penguin i make the white around the penguin another colour and then im importing it, so the white on the penguin stays.

to moresco : the name of the penguin is "Puddy"

to JamTorkberg : I'm already working on that, and I'm going to post an update, though I'm not adding a shadow of the table, because then it doesn't look good anymore in my opinion.

the animation has been updated, I think it looks better now.
