Title: close up door

this is an improtant piece of my game and i can'get it right. it is supposed to be a close up[ of a door. THe silver bit is the top of the door handle the gold bit is the bolt and the streaky black line is supposed to look like it is slightly burnt. I CAN@T get this right and i thought you could help me?

I get the idea of where you are trying to get.
I would add shaddows to get depth.
Also try changing  the hadle. Make it more round and maybe move it up a bit so the entire handle is visible it would make it easyer to recognize...

Woudn't it be more split and cracked?..It doesn't really look like it did much damage.

To me, it looks like something really hot and sharp was drug across the surface.Ã,  Hope it was what you were looking for!

thanks guys. I was trying to be amiguos in case any of you planned to play my game but just so further adivce can be given. It is supposed to look like a piece of string has been burned along that line. attached to the bolt and fed through the keyhole. I'm getting there but it still doesn't look quite right.

A bit of string wouldn't leave a burn mark imo, because most doors are sort of...fire proof. And string isn't very big.

It does look burnt, I just don't think it really should be. Maybe a bit singed if its a natural wood door with no coating.

Maybe lighten the wood so it doesn't look varnished. ie burnable.
