Hey people,

I'm still fairly new to this board, and I thought I'd share with you one of the best songs I've written to date.  I started composing music back around '93, using keyboard, guitar, and samplers.   The song's called Isolation, and was written on a rainy day back in 2001 or 2002.  Enjoy :)

Please let me know what you think, and if you'd like to hear some others, there are about a dozen others here of different styles: http://www.jeku.com/audio/

Thanks!

It's pretty good!

Desperately needs a melody, though:

Keep up the good work!

Well Hi!

I just heard your song in my awful speakers.

I don't know if on better speakers, it sounds better but here we go:

About the mixing. It's fine, but I think that the guitar stands out a bit too much, at least at the beginning, when it enters. And I don't like too much reverb on the fx on the back (though this is personal).

Compositionally, it is a bit monotonous...
Again it is kinda personal, but I could really use some change around the middle, otherwise it's just 4 chords repeating and not really a lot to keep the audience occupied...

Other than that it's a fine piece of music (a song, should have words?). and I like the atmosphere... a lot... It is a rainy day here in the Uk... It's always a rainy day...

Cool, thanks for the compliments and constructive criticism :)  While I agree that the melody is repetitive, I still think it could stand out on its own as a background piece.  I don't agree that it needs words, however.  There are many songs that don't have words.

Here's another one along the same style but with a real melody.  I wrote it for my sister when she was pregnant:

Floskfinger

When I first listened to the song I thought it was good without a melody appart from the acoustic guitar. But when I listened to Geoffkhans version I quickly changed my mind  :=.

Anyway, it's a nice song but the thunder effect has got to go. It's nothing wrong with thunder effects (or rain sounds) in a song (I use it alot) but your thunder effect sounds too sythetic in my ears. BTW, did you make the song in Reason? I think I recognize some of the sounds and instuments.

Dancing madly backwards on the sea of air...

Geoffkhan - Wow, that's a great rendition of the song :-)  What tools did you use?  I could actually see that as being the tune for this!

The sequencer is Sonar, and I used ChineeWinds for the Dizi melody.
