Well, between AGS and the family I'm working on recording a homegrown album to be released for free to download. I have the first song that maybe needs some c&c.

I hate how myspace compresses mp3s so horribly. But anyway tell me what you think of it.

Well I can tell you I really liked it. Definately something I would purchase and listen to. Although I know that comparison's are not often flattering to an artist, this track gave me the same feeling as the theme for '28 Days Later'. So that's a good thing. Keep it up.

You mean that Godspeed You Black Emperor song? That's flattering actually  :P

Glad you liked it!

Hey!

This sounds extra cool!

I'm posting as I listen, so... dunno what's happening round the corner... ok? :)

*The drum hi-hats are being automatically closed for some reason in the intro, which sounds like some kind of phase problem (or is it a phase problem in poor quality mp3? dunno...)
*The drum "loop" (I know it's not a loop), but it's copy pasted 4 or 8 times, with the absolutely same rhythm in the kick which makes it sound rather unrealistic, and I'm quite sure you're heading towards realistic programming...
*Mixing is quite nice and I like the guitar sound, while I'm missing a tiny bit of the bass (or lower frequencies if you want), at least to my monitors. It doesn't necessarily need to go louder (the bass I mean), but some fattening would work greatly. A tiny bit of chorus? (tiny).
* Voice is very nice and well worked. I don't know if you EQed it, but it sounds fine.
*Finally for some reason, I keep listening that there is a panning problem, when there isn't one actually! I downloaded the mp3 (sorry about that, even if you didn't allow it), to have a look in the waveform in Cubase and it looks fine, so it was probably the main rhythmic guitar being towards the right to give this impression, or something else? Don't know. But it's ok.

Some ideas would be to have more voices (you again), in the chorus, or another guitar in the left channel playing the same things, to make it... fatter.

It's a very nice song actually and your voice sounds very cool! So more songs? When? Where? The album? any idea when? How? :)

If you want somewhere to upload a higher bitrate mp3, PM me and I can upload it to my website for any time you want! :) Also if you want me to delete the mp3, now that I've had a look in the waveform, let me know, by all means, don't mean to prive in your privacy or your rights or anything!

Thanks for sharing your song!

Thanks Nikolas! Don't worry, you don't have to delete it, so enjoy ;D

I'm using drum loops from betamonkeymusic.com, and I think the hihat thing you're talking about is that I put too much compression on the drum track (seeing as how I can't separate the individual drum tracks.)

I was thinking about using EZDrummer by Toontracks, but I dunno if the new drum sounds will vary too much from this track, Maybe it will sound okay. But before I release all the songs I'll do final tweaks.

I'm actually in the process of the recording the second track, I'm having latency issues that I have to work through (stupid Windows Vista), and re-record a guitar part. But I hope I can finish the whole thing between September-December.

Yes. It just gave me the same feeling and I could picture the zombies running to it. It's like this song could be the missing track to '28 days later'.  ;D

unfortunately it won't play for me anymore... just keeps saying loading.
Nevermind just needed to close down my browser. lol

When will the track be available for download?

btw, I was playing it and both my gf's daughters liked it. They are 16 and 13. I am 33, so you have a large demographic of future fans out there!

Dualnames

Coolish, nice intro, got me scared it would be a crap for a sec, but then I caught my left foot enjoying the drums and my ears enjoying the distortion guitar(I'm a sucker for distorted guitars)..Cool nice. 7/10. Sabbath are cooler. 8)
