Hi guys, this is your newest newbie speaking. I made this ::ahem:: wonderous room entitled, Bed Room1 for my game. I drew it all with (brace yourself) MSpaint. Yes you heard right, the worst of all paint programs. I tried using PSP 7, but I can't quite figure it out yet and I wanted to get started. Anywho, here it is.

I can`t see your room...
QuoteYes you heard right, the worst of all paint programs.
No,you`re not right!!!
If you learn how to use it , it might achieve wonderfull results!
Where is the image located?Ã, What server?Ã, It looks like you're trying to show a picture that is located on YOUR computer? (that just won't work unless your computer is set up that way)

I apologize for being dum, but how do you upload images correctly and how do you find their URL?
There is a sticky thread that tells you where you can upload it to.
Now if you can't figure that out... leave the internet and never return.
Yes, I've uploaded several images with that, and it tells me that it has been uploaded as Bed_Room.JPG. How do I get the URL to that?
Lay, you are mean and an idiot.
you had been doing "http://Bed_Room1.JPG" without the rest of the URL....
Any ways, nice background there, but the thing that really bugs me is the bed's shadow. Only one leg is casting a shadow....
Edit: Those JPG artifacts are a bit annoying. Is is possible for you to save it as a GIF next time?
Double Edit: The outlines also seem inconsistent. The window's is huge, for example, and the TV has tiny lines.
or as .png rather. It has no colour loss.
I agree about the JPG artifacts. I already have it saved as a different file because of that. I accidentally uploaded that one and didn't want to take up too much sapce (probably just being dumb again ;D)
OK, I think I got the hang of this upload thing, let me try.

OK, I changed the bed colors due to awkwardness of shadow colors. I did all four bed post shadows, and tried a few touch ups on the shadows. I left two different shading styles on the door to see which one is better in the old veterans' opinion. Oh, I also looked at a few rooms others have made and re-did the perspective to a better, bigger space. Any more. I love all your tips and comments!
no, wait

URLs are case sensitive.
The last one is almost right, but capitalization in filenames matters, so make sure you get that right.
Edit: Damn you, Evil. Damn you.

Oops, I got it now, but I put the wrong one up. Sorry about all the posts, guys :-\

Damn. Please tell me how to edit a post so I don't keep posting.

Off to a good start!
Some things:
1) The perspective on the bed and nightstand are off a little
2) The TV has no depth/perspective
3) Add a border to the door
4) Fix the bed's shadow (already mentioned)
Sorry I don't have time for an edit ... but check this thread (http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=15376.0) out I did a paintover with a very similar perspective
How about the different shading in the door.Ã, Which one looks better to an adventure gamers eye?
Also, how would you go about adding depth/perspective to the TV?
OK, Im trying a whole new shading method due to reading the tutorial on how not to make things look like plastic.Ã, What do you think.Ã, I haven't finished, but I wanted to get the opinion before I finish the whole room.

So far i like the background, but the window should have some depth. Right now it looks like the room is made of cardboard.Ã, Try doing something with the TV set.
Otherwise, not looking too bad.
Shawn
wouldnt the tv table and set base have width?
Sorry it took so long ... having horrible 'net connection problems!

- altered perspective of bed and nightstand
- added depth/perspective to tv and stand
- altered shadows
- added borders to floor lines and door
Suggestions:
- work on the side window (add border or something)
Hope it helps!

Lay, you are mean and an idiot.
I'll admit to being mean, and perhaps somewhat an idiot... but it was late at night, and i tried bed_room1.gif, Bed_Room.gif and bed_room.gif, I just never tried Bed_Room1.gif, which it apparantly was! So sue me i was tired at the time.
Still I had a valid point.
That's alright Jack, I forgive you. Unfortunately, according to my own personal code of conduct, as an act of contrition, you must now drink 12 oz. of rat poison. Thanks for the apology, and I hope you survive. :)
this pic is really confusing me. some parts you ahve shaded and coloured beautifully and some bits look like a rush job in paint. its almost like you've drawn two pictures an merged them or something. Anyone else see this?
Crook, it seems you learned some things the hard way today :)
In the future, please consider modifying your posts instead of starting new ones all the time.
As for the background, here are some suggestions:

This is full of flaws as well, like perspective inconsistencies, but maybe it can give you some ideas. Basically you need to break apart the vast one-coloured fields with more details, create a more interesting shadow/light relation, and fix the over-all perspective.
The best thing is if you could draw help-lines to determine the proper perspective. If you do this, you'll see my version is full of flaws as well!
Thank you all so very much for your advice! Just one thing, I want your opinion on the shading texture. I think the door is good, but there is something wrong with the way the side table looks in my second picture. It looks a little to grainy. Your opinions please?
the door and the side table both look rather odd, like someone splashed acid on one side. Also, change the scene outside the window a bit. Right now the horizon looks almost parallel to the perspective of the floor. Maybe some more grass and less of sky showing. Good luck in your AGS endeavours.
The new perspective corrections look great. There's just one remaining perspective issue. The rightmost bedpost needs to be moved to the right so that the near end of the bed won't look narrower than the far end.
