After seeing Calin's voice work, I couldn't help trying it myself.

Really think there should be a voice acting competition, it's so much fun.

I think your only problem lies in the noise in the background. Your voice is well-suited, your accents are convincing - it's just a matter of stepping up in equipment or eliminiting whatever it is that creates your noise problem there.

Running a Shure SM57
through a special USB cable.

Really? I have an SM57 as well, it must be your connection because these beast can record voices really, really well and clear. What pre-amp do you use? Your soundcard's? I have a Presonus TubePRE and it works really great.

That's a pretty good voice acting of a gay american. I'm convinced.
I don't know if that was your intention to sound gay, but that was how I perceived it. It was american enough to me. I just think that it lacked emotion. It was like you were reading a script and it was a race to finish. Calin's voice acting was a much nicer job. His sounded almost suicidal. A tough decision to make kinda sad.

One thing I noticed though, was that you pronounced compass weird. Weird to me anyway. Cum-piss is the only way that I ever hear it pronounced. As weird as that looks. :p

to be honest I didnt particularly perceive the 'gay'.

It sounded like a fairly average 20ish year old. I was convinced. I've heard far far worst.

I think perhaps you were trying to emulate my delivery a little which wasnt that good in the first place.

I also second the VA competition.

I wouldn't say that the whole thing sounded gay. Just a few words here and there.
I have nothing against that. I just wanted to point it out to you since you posted it wanting a critics opinion.
And I only pointed it out because "Jennifer's gone" sounded like your girlfriend left. And that is why I thought it was a problem.
