I was bored the other day so I drew a Spike Spiegel sprite, but then I figured I might as well draw the rest of the gang for fun.

I know they're kind of on the smaller side for standard adventure game sprites (I think), but it's too late to change that.

The combined palette is listed on the left, which should be at 26 colors. And it's kind of hard to tell, but she's supposed to be smoking a cigarette and that gray stuff which is barely distinguishable from the forum color background is supposed to be smoke.

Pose of the Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV sprite looks strange. Somehow it looks a bit unnatural. Maybe you should have drawn her standing on her hands ;)
Other sprites look great and recognizable.

Ultra Magnus

Ed does look a bit strange, like she's about to fall over forwards.
And is it my imagination, or has Jet got two real arms there?

Other than that, they look great. :)
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

I'm tired of pretending I'm not bitchin', a total frickin' rock star from Mars.

These look good, but you should focus on some higher contrast colors especially with such small sprites to bring out definition.  I made an edit to give you some ideas.

1.  Altered skin tones and clothing to bring out contrast.

2.  Moved girl's arm to her waist and placed the cigarette in her mouth.  The more you can do to improve readability in small sprites the better.

3.  Altered pants of the bald guy to look more like this reference:
http://www.thebluecrow.com/images/Cowboy%20Bebop%2049.jpg

4.  Fixed boy/girl's arms and stance to look a bit more natural.

5.  Altered some shading to make it more consistent and reapplied colors to bring out the shadows more.

6.  Shaded girl's legs to look more like stockings and made her hair look more like the reference.

I didn't really mess with the far left guy at all because I think you pretty much nailed him, and to a lesser extent the bald guy.  The other two had some readability issues that I think were erased through better contrast.  I also didn't mess with the dog at all.  Nice work!

nads

yeah prog nailed it on the head. other than that and the fact about jets arms. nice work. you should think about making a cowboy beebop game. that would be sick! nice work thou. If there was a Cowboy Beebop game, thats pretty much how I would picture the sprites! keep it up

Very cool sprites!! ProgZmax's modifications are nice, except for Faye, smoking like that isn't very elegant is it  :-\ I prefer TheJBurger's version, her stance I mean. The cig looks like a tazer with electricity floating around; change the angle, the length and where the smoke is, and it should be fine.

Now, a Vicious sprite please?  :-*

It's your imagination! He's crossing his arms.

Thanks for the edit ProgZ - Excellent points about the contrast. Also, I love the shine on the arm + the new hair for the girl.

I made an edit with most of the points you had in mind, although I ditched the cigarette and kept the old stockings:

@Progz - Just a quick question to go along with that: I noticed you shifted the hues of the shadows, particularly for the skin to more saturation + more red. It looks great, but what's the reasoning behind this?

Maybe I will...  :)

Well, the main thing with skin tones is establishing a pleasing contrast.  Light pink highlights, orange-pink midtones and reddish-purple shadows really help to bring out shape and provide some interesting color contrasts and help get away from the light pink, almost brown skin tones.  The new edit looks good.

Ah.
I was reading it as if he had a glove on his right hand, and that arm was in front of the other.
The extra bit of shine does clear it up nicely.

Also, new Faye - me like.

Since when was Faye ever elegant?
Apart from when she's charming a bounty, of course. :)

I made an attempt to give Faye her cigarette back, just because I think it's sexy.

These are great! Ed's pose is the only thing I see that needs a little work at the moment. Great CB sprites.  ;D

Babar

what's up with the bulge in her left leg?

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Looks great, even if they are very low res. Keep it up!

Elegant as in the while-she's-smoking stance  :) See, the posture you gave her is more elegant than ProgZmax's. In his version she looks like... a trucker, and I'd half expect her to spit on the floor  ;D

Galen

Does Ed ever stand normally in the series?

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

Cigarettes have to be in your mouth to smoke them.  Also, smoking is hardly an elegant habit.  Let's keep the topic relevant to the quality of TheJBurger's work and not personal preference on how a woman should pay lip service to a cigarette, ok?

I dunno.
It reminded me of the scene where she's got the cigar in her mouth while shooting the guys through the window.

Exactly, you'd only smoke like that if you're doing something else with your hands  :)

@ProgZmax: Other people have been giving their opinion about Ed's pose, so that TheJBurger could improve it. So I don't see why it's not relevant when we talk about Faye's stance. Also, I do agree that the cig should be in your mouth to smoke, it just didn't look right with the posture you gave her. Maybe not having her stand akimbo would make it ok. Ultra Magnus' version is what I think is the right pose, should she remain with a hand on her hip.

But all your other edits are great! Can't expect to be perfect right?  :-[
