Out of practise: Pixel'd guy

So I have been a little unproductive over the past 6 or 8 months. Anything I have done is just some sketching and playing around with photoshop, however pixelling was what I used to love doing. So a little 8 months rustly, but what you guys think?

These aren't going to be the standing frames. I just tend to draw characters standing vertical first; I find it easier to animate them this way.

How is my colour choice, design and usability? I'll post a walkcycle and a few other frames of the guy in the future, but I'm looking for some kind of advice at the moment.

It was difficult for me to consider which are his eyes at first glance .
At first I decided that those blue/grey thingies are his eyes and brown thingies are brows. Then I thought that perhaps brown thingies are his eyes, and he's just smirking on something , in which case blue/grey thingies are some sort of... err... I dunno what...

Yeah I agree. Also the best would be to higher the eyes. The eyes being just as low as his nose is a bit weird if you ask me. Or maybe just changing the color of the eyes will help.

I think it looks quite funny with his eyes below his nose area, it looks weird, but not bad weird, it looks cool weird

But yeah, the eyes should be brighter, more distinguishable

Ok eyes moved a little higher and are made brighter. Anything else?

Probably a bit nit-picky, but the way his hards are resting feels awkward to me. I would say tilt them inward a bit.

Other than that I think it's pretty sick.
