What do you think? ??? It's a sort of prototype, however.

Thanks for advices ;)

raimo

first person... is that person a rat? :)

EDIT: Oh yeah and other than that, there's not much anything there! :)

ManicMatt

It's alright, it's just.. empty. I would suggest more details! Cracks in the wall, stains etc?

And if it's first person, is said person lying on the floor? That is the height indicated. If you didn't mean that, I'd suggest altering the camera perspective if you can. Make it higher.

I can't critique the actual 3D skills as I am not knowledgable in that area.

Bijulinus

Well, yes. He's lying on the floor...
I believe I should add something like a bad, what do you think?

Ok, I'm going to add cracks & stains...

any else?

It's great that you've started from something simple and that you've actually created a complete scene and not got stuck on details. For a placeholderÃ, (like you said, a 'prototype'), this is completely functional, but the next step is to actually get into some higher-grade modelling, texturing and lighting. Look into photorealistic textures, materials, lighting and rendering. Plus you might wanna get more info on common modeling techniques and how different methods are used for different kinds of objects. What program are you using?

EDIT: I mean, since your shapes are so simple, I don't see any reason why you couldn't employ most of the professional techniques without much learning. Of course, if the program isn't up-to-par, that's another thing.

Bijulinus

Thanks, but I'm no good with 3D graphics.
I'm using Bryce.

Just one little thing I've noticed: the big light spot on the floor suggests that the light source is right outside the window. The sun would produce a spot that's about as big as the opening.

raimo

well, judging from the color of the sky i guess it's evening/night and at least to me the light feels like a street lamp or something like that

Yes, the light source is just outside: it's meant to be something like a street lamp, yes.
Is there something wrong with this?

From the size of the light spot, the light source is like 1m outside the window, not several meters like it should be. Just move it further away from the window.

Oh, btw, is that a Nazi-quote in your signature about the superiority of German and Italian soldiers...?

Da_Elf

bryce...shudder...

i agree about the light source problem as well. Your exterior light needs to be further away. this will mean that the spot on the ground will be smaller but thats realism for ya. Definately you will need to add in props. since bryce is a crappy modeling program i wouldnt suggest you modeling stuff yourself. Try to fidn things on turbosquid.com you can sort the models by order of price to see the free models. Im not sure if bryce can do it but a little volumetric light would look nice as well. If not you might want to fake it in photoshop.

Absolutely not. IMHO it's historically interesting. :)

Yes... but it's like a lamp attached to the same wall on the other side... but if you think's better, I will try some changes.

May I download free models from there?Ã,  However, I've added a bed, with mattress and endings, and a simple toilet... the problem in adding props is that the room is actually empty... like in a prison.

Edit: I'm not sure, why should I add a volumetric light? Something like a candle, you meaN?

What do you think of this style of interface?
How you can see in this screenshot (maybe hardly) I use a central GUI with the "zoomed" vision of the clicked object.

On the left of the room there's the bed: I've clicked on it and the GUI with the pic of the bed appeared. Click on the gui to close it. In the same time, the char is speaking.

What do you think about this way to "see" important things, things that do not deserve to have an entire room dedicated to?

(sorry for my bad english :) )

Your textures aren't aligned. There is some smudge on the wall. But on the other wall it has a totally different shape.

ManicMatt

Yeah the close up can work, but I think it would look better in a black outlined box?

I'd make the bin a different texture to the wall. A stone bin? Or is it a toilet? Also that makes it blend in too much with the walls!

I agree that you should get those stains to line up properly in the corners.
