Tell me your opinion and what need improvement. Or if the style is any good. Please!
The room:

I've remade O'Riley. That should be good news, eh?

From what I can see the perspective is a bit off on the counter top, the rightmost part is angled too high. Also, just in my own opinion, you should lighten it up a little, even if you want it that dark in the game. I had to stare at it for a minute to see the whole thing. I do like that style though. It fits the characters well.

The background is definitely too dark and the lighting is a bit too complex to handle in a game. The rug doesn't look so good, partly because of the anti-aliasing atempt, which went wrong.

Overall it looks promising, could you fill us in on what kind of place this is, what style (present, futuristic, retro) are you trying to achieve etc.. ?

Dualnames

It's more actually of a futuristic one. The rug seems so bad, because the picture is resized by me.

It seems quite dark but on fullscreen you can distinguish things very easily.
I think. Try loading it on a 640 x 480 resolution on AGS and 16bit and press fullscreen preview and tell me if it's really that dark.

Looks quite good... but are you sure you should be using .jpeg as file format?

Oddysseus

I really like the color scheme you've got going on here.  I would suggest making the shadows from the columns darker to make the scene even more dramatic.  Also, the trashcan/cylinder thing near the counter doesn't have a shadow, and part of the counter would probably cast a shadow on the other part of the counter.

I do have to say that this background is much improved from the backgrounds you've posted here in the past.

Haha.  Man, you really got a bee in your bonnet haven't you?

@DN
My only gripe with the background is the counter area.  It looks all out of perspective.  Try redoing it using vanishing points, and I reckon it'll be fine.

I'll try and shadow the whole thing and I'll see if it'll improve but I'm seriously think of redrawing the counter.

EDIT: Hey Odysseus thanks.

I've been reshaping things and I've come up to this version. The water flowing should look strange. I've also animated the whole thing. Looks kinda neat according to me. But that's me

EDIT: Also here's the new version of Dave Dell. Fully animated.

New version of Dave Dell looks very good. I have no crits on that sprite. But it look to be very different in size compared to your other characters. Are the bigger characters for some different purpose like cutscenes or are they just concept art. I'm sure if you make those other characters with se same style as your new Dave Dell, they'll look great too.

The background however is little hard to comment because I'm not entirely sure what it is.

pslim

I would suggest putting a one pixel bob in the new sprite's moving animation, to simulate wind resistence, or whatever.  :=

Awesome idea. Good thinking. Any ideas for the idle view?
The character are not concept art by the way. I made them big because it's more easy to resize something big to small than the other way around.
The style between Dave and the other characters looks a little different eh?

Dave's sprite and animation definitely look different than the other characters. It's a lot better! Are these all going to be for Lone Case 3 or whatever? If so, you should remake the other characters to fit with Dave's style. I also have a slight suggestion for the talking animations: include other frames of what the characters would normally be doing. For example: O'Reilly's mouth is moving, and that's the only part of his body moving while he's talking. If you want your animations to be a lot better, have him fidget the paper a bit, or move his hands slightly. As well, you need to include at least 2 frames per character for a blinking animation, it may not seem like a lot, but trust me- it can make your animations look 100% better!
I'm composing the music for this game:

I like the new Dave Dell sprite and I thought it would be fun to try edit it. This is the result:

The second one is a higher contrast version of my original edit. Its the first high contrast thing I've done it a while and I kinda like it better that my first edit.

zabnat

Oh, I didn't even notice that Dave Dell was a torso sitting on somekind of a chair. It was so dark that I though the whole dark chunk was his body (And yes, I do have a calibrated display). So the body is way too dark and I suggest doing something like Ben304's edit.

Ben you rock like hell. Thanks a lot.

I like the theme a lot. Looks pretty simular to my style way back when I was a pixel-addict. but to begin with, I would suggest you stay off the filters. On pixels they tend to make the picture flat. And the perspective is off, I would suggest you read a bit about the subject. Other than that, I can't wait to see the result :-)
Albert Barillé and Hergé, we love you

Dualnames

I don't want fun of the series to get very very happy. I've remade Dave Dell making the colors more vivid. However I can;t reach Ben;s level. So Dave quality sprites will remain my style except if Ben cares to do character art or fix all mine. The sprites were a little dark but I 've fixed them. Ben if you care about doing character art PM me. Thanks anyway.
