Post by: Dualnames on Thu 25/10/2007 18:52:22
I've been doing some art the last week so here it is...

JPG

Edit:
How did you fix the format by doubling the pics' size?
Use PNG.

Constructive part: the pics are messy and way too dark.

Oops.
You're right

EDIT: Fixed it.

What's going on in that top one?

I like the the last though.

Well since photobucket has a strange habit of blurring my images you'll have to wait to see it in game in order to understand. I like the last one as well.

The top one: I have no idea what's going on here.

The center one: This is actually quite good start. Has a bit of dott feel in it.
Suggestions:
The bottom one: Path comes from a building end on a road where asphalt is replaced with space? There should be no shading on the path where the fence obscure the path if you are trying to simulate the kind of lighting where there are shadows in corners.

ps. I was considering doing some edits but images where jpegs do I didn't bother.

Images are bmps. And thanks for that comment about that dott feel. And good thinking about that circle. If you can make a mop example for me I would appreciate because I tried coloring it but I can't get it right.

Edit : Fixed that stupid mop myself.

Look, [edit]some[/edit] image hosts turn BMPs into JPGs, ok? Not because they want to ruin them but because BMPs are a huge waste of harddrive space, and even image hosts don't have unlimited storage.

So don't complain, save the pics as PNGs before you upload them. If you can't because you're still stuck with the piece of crap Microsoft calls Paint, get IrfanView (http://www.irfanview.net/). It's free and can convert your stuff to a proper format for web viewing, like GIF or PNG.

monkey: XP's Paint can, older versions couldn't.
buckethead: even worse.

MS Paint can properly save PNG files.

@Khris's edit: I wasn't aware older-versions of Paint couldn't save the PNG format. Sorry if there was any inter-OS-version confusion here. ;)

Actually, imageshack converts to .png instead of .jpg. And I don't think he's stuck with MS paint since he got all sort of lighting effects going on.

Yeah the pictures sure look way dark. Strange because when I open the file from my PC it looks fine enough. Anyway I'm gonna fix that problem the next time I post images in the critic lounge.

EDIT: And by the way, I don't use MSPaint for converting images.
