Very nice, clean style. I really like this, I don't really see anything wrong with it. Good stuff!

Rough paintover:

I've focused on the lighting, basically I darkened many areas. The moon is the only lightsource, so everything facing away should be very dark.

The white outline on the tree and the hedge makes them look very flat, but I was too lazy to correct that.

A very nice background indeed! The absence of detailed shading gives a very calm and simple look which i really like in adventures games. It's easier to spot objects and important places when everything is clearly defined as opposed to some antialiased backgrounds i've seen.

I have 2 gripes and the only came to me after staring at it for a while, wondering what it was that felt wrong. Usually, to me anyway, that means something is off perspective-wise. And in this case that's exacly what it was.
- The right edge of the porch ceiling (hope you know what i mean) is off compared to the left side. The right side should be less steep instead of steeper than the left side.
- The supporting posts of the porch should be perfectly straight down, unless of course they are indeed slanted or crooked.

Keep up the good work though, this bg is very nice. And although it looks really simple, i'd have a hard time creating something like this.

No. The angles are correct. The right side has to be steeper because it's closer to the VP.
I'm pretty sure the pic was painted over a 3D model.

I'd say KhrisMUC's paintover looks pretty dead-on, although the original was pretty good to begin with.

To me, it seems like the upstairs windows would be in a position to reflect a little bit of moonlight. I don't know, I may just be having perspective issues.

Way better, now darken the fence and the tree and you're done. Unless there's another light source besides the moon.

The shading on the tree really bugs me. The shadow is on the left side, but the light source being the moon, there really shouldn't be any more shadow there than on the front side...

It's a common thing people do (and it might be hard to do the shadow so that it doesn't look flat), maybe you've realized it and/or it doesn't bug anyone else, but still it is quite disturbing in my opinion (the more I look at it the more it bugs me...)

I really like this background. Clean, simple and nice. The only thing i might suggest is drawing an outline to the doorknob so it doesn,t look so flat. And i agree with Oneway that all of the support-poles should be perfectly straight. And lastly, just to make you aware of it (Now I,m really nitpicking) you have overlooked two red pixels, one right above the door and the other one on the the porch above the lower-right window. But overall it,s a very god work indeed. ;)
