How's this?

If you can't see it, try this

Don't put the spaces inbetween the [  ] 's and the urls

As for your bg itself, its very plain.  There's not much 'filling' in it.  According to your pic's name, its a cafeteria.  Well, it doesn't look much like a cafeteria at all.  Its a empty room.  Try adding food aisles, tables, chairs, etc.  Also, the perspective is bugging me a little bit.  I may post a paintover later. Oh, and one more thing.  When you post rooms like that, especially if they look empty, try telling us more about the room, so we can help more.

Here's a picture of Uranus. I used photoshop for this one.
By the way, I'm already working on the cafeteria.

Perspective on the first one is a bit weird, but the second one looks good. By the way, try using [ img ] tags instead.

deadsuperhero

This is sort of a stupid question, but how do I use IMG tags?
I read the article on how to post screenshots, but I wasn't sure how to do it. ???

Here's a painted version of the surface of Phleebut.

Here's another picture of Uranus. There's even a moon.

The room is a bit hard on the eyes because of the really odd color scheme, and you can see the texture repeating its self on the floor and the walls.

I like the picture of Uranus, but that thing on the top throws me off, is it a hill?

The third painting is also very cool, but I think the out lines of the rocks shouldn't be softened that much.

deadsuperhero

Thanks, ealwood. That is a hill on the planet. I put it there 'cause it looked neat.

You're a SQ3 fan, I take it?   Around 2 to 3 of those where paintovers of the original SQ bgs.... there's a SQ3 remake in the works, you know.

Anyway, staying on topic,   all the 'Uranus' (Phleebhut) backgrounds look a little too blurry.   It looks somewhat strange.  I suggest making more definate outlines of the green landforms, etc.  Not black outlines, mind you, just something thats less blurry.  Also, some spots are scattered around that still look the original SQ3 background.  I'm hoping you did more than blur these backgrounds, and that you went over with an airbrush or something.

earlwood

Neat indeed.  ;D

Now that I got a second glance on that picture, I noticed the stars, they don't fall right with the picture..maybe a little more detail than little blue dots would look a better on game screen?

I did go over it with an airbrush. An as for the green backgrounds, that's a pretty good idea.

Yes ...

But seriously ...

The background need to be less 'soft' as others have mentioned.Ã,  It'll be murder doing walkbehinds with those kinds of edges.

The picture of Uranus doesn't really look like a planet.Ã,  Planets, from space, look mostly solid and spherical.Ã,  I suppose anything is possible in the universe ... but I didn't get that it was supposed to be a planet at first.

The room background needs some work.Ã,  The perspective is wierd on the door and the textures aren't working as is.Ã,  Could use some shading as well.

Keep pluggin' away and remember the modify button.

Heh, I just looked at it in Photoshop, the stars are the original SQ3 ones.  Use the airbrush, Windowspidey.

deadsuperhero

Does this look any better?

I'm not the best at drawing stars. :-\

Albit I'm no graphics artist or a scientist for that matter. But here's and idea on your planet and moon space scape. You had 2 different lightsources for your planet and moon ( The green moon looks like the light is coming from the bottom and your purple planet has light coming from the upper right).

Most planets have some sort of atmosphere debris that gives that aura around the planet from the sun reflecting through the atmosphere, which you got down great from your image, just remember that the aura color will be very close to what a majority of what the planet is made of. Normally the aura doesn't show on the shadow side of a planet, but it doesn't have to be 100% realistic, also I added in some space junk for fun.

Look at this topic: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=13576.20 for more info on helping you make star/planet backgrounds for your images. There's a program that'll help you out.

Hope this gives you a better idea.

deadsuperhero

That's AWESOME.
I tried downloading it, but the program said I couldn't make planets. NO! :'(
