Title: Darn! My first sprite ...
Post by: Loki on Mon 17/04/2006 17:29:06
Hi everyone!

This is my first sprite. It took me about one and a half hour to complete it. I'm not very good in anything, but i tried to get the shadows right. I hope it's ok. The "dither technique" made me shit bricks and it even didn't become good.

Whatever ... here it is! Own me!

The trousers could do with some more shading.
The hats a bit jaunty.
The belt looks flat.
The boot is puzzling, feet are a nightmare to pixel.

Aside from that, I can't see anything that needs improving.  For a first attempt, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I would suggest:

- Add more contrast to your colors (mostly the jacket/pants ensemble, they look too similar in hue)
- Lose the dither (it will make animation easier, plus it'll help it look like cloth, not fur)

Thanks for the comments so far. I'll try to think of the facts next time. But i'm surprised, that there were only two replies.  ???

I'll come up with a new one this week... if you have any other improvements, then let me know it.
