Title: Diner background
Post by: Mats Berglinn on Sun 11/05/2003 18:25:50
For the second big game, Bill Starshine, I have drawn this background of a diner on planet Foora. I drew this by hand, scanned in it and then colored and cleaned it up. I haven't done any shading yet but I will make that later.

I would like some critics on this, both good and bad. If you wonder what those orange things are, it's just a futureatic design that is popular on planet Foora and the lamps are also popular design items. And just want you to know, the cushion-chairs at the disk are attached to the floor. And the black space is for the SCUMM interface.

i think it's pretty ok, but if you want critique, maybe you could try some shading for making it look less flat. And the floor beyond the door in the left part, the checkboard (sp?) looks a bit off-perspective. And maybe you could remove double pixels. And it seems as if you painted most of the outlines, but forgot to paint some ones that are still black. Dont know if you did that intentionally.

It looks good Mats.
I was just wondering what other types of art and objects were popular on planet Foora. For wall decorations to give the scene more atmospher.
Is there an atmospher on planet Foora? (sorry couldn't resist that question)  ;)

Very funny. Yes it does, because neither Bill or other humans (or maybe aliens) don't need to wear space-suits, but of course you couldn't know that 'cause I didn't tell you. Ok, wall decorations it is. I'll fix those along with shading, fixing the door and the checkboard.

Proskrito: What do you mean with double pixles?

What do you mean? Some lines are suppoused to be black.

Ok, it was just i thought that the door at the left, the "menu" thing and the kind of window between them, were the same material, and the door have coloured outlines and the others dont.
And sme thing whith the ceiling and the floor, one black outlines and the other coloured.

The perspective on the floor behind the door is off. It should only be a few pixels above the back floor of the front room. Also the room is too regular - maybe you could add a couple of objects of interest to distract from the 'sameness', like a jukebox and something else in the center.

Someparts are outlined in black, and some are outlined in brown, but they are the same outline.

[EDIT]

Sorry, didn't read earlier posts.  :-[

It's been awhile but now I have made some updates and changes here and added some shading (under the barstools and over the lamps, if there any place that should be shaded let me know).

I have added a machine for drinks (no, it's not booze I'm talking about, it's a diner so it only have beer, root-beer, water, tea, ice-tea, many kinds of coffee including decaf, some soda kinds and the famous Crocis Cola) and a advertising bill for Crocis Cola (it's an in-joke for Crocis Crocodile that will appear most of my games and other things because he is a famous guy but he will get his very own game after this one).
