Some dithering and anti aliasing practice for me, first time I tried it. Been working on it for 4 hours now, and now it's 3am so I decided to take a little break. In the meantime, could anyone tell me if there is something horribly wrong so I can correct it before finishing the coloring.
I planned some grass tiles and sprite trees for the background, but that can wait untill I'm finished with the house.
Some parts are a lot more detailed then others, wich makes it sort of unbalanced.
For instance the helicopeter has much more detail then the car. Same with the shading, compare the roof of the building with the cover thing on top of the roof. see? Ither then that looks good to me.
p.s If by "Finishing the coloring" you mean shading and detail then sorry :p
By his post, I doubt he's done yet, Spoof.
Other than that, looks good so far. But are you aware that the garage is bigger than the actual house?
how come some stuff is outlined and some is not?
My guess is he first draws it with an outline, and then when adding shades and dithering he removes the outline.
Thanks for the replies.
Xadhoom: actually I didn't notice the garage size until you pointed it out, but I don't mind since it was made for practice purposes only.

Right-o.
Here's the update:

I'd like some advice on dithering the concrete surfaces (like under the car), as you can see, I tried something, but it didn't work very well.
Thanks in advance.
It might help your picture if you decided on a light source and shaded accordingly.
I played around with the driveway a bit to make it look more like concrete, added cracks, an oil stain, and some slight shading. I also fixed a little of the lighting, but nothing major. Nice job! (http://members.cox.net/veradin/prektis.gif)
I like it. It reminds me of the flintstones houses. Only crit would be make the helicopter's legs a different colour than the ladder and stuff.
Again, thanks for the replies.
Big Brother: The lightsource is topright, but some shadowing (under the car, helicopter. etc.) will be added later.
ProgZmax: Thanks a bunch, I tried something simmilar.
Potter: I'll keep this color for the legs for now, might change it later if needed.
The newest version:

Some of the missing shadowing will be added later, details (rearview mirrors, car interior, house interior,...) will also be added later.
Critics, comments and paintovers are very welcome.
It's definitely improving!
You've still got a little confusion (for me) about the light source. The top of the structure (with the copper roof) is highlighted from the top/left and the rest seems to be highlighted from the top/right (as you mentioned).
The dithering and detail is getting better and better though! Keep it up!
Mmmmmm... apparently, if the light source is upper right, the landing platform could make a shadow and make that past be darker... But then there should be a dark blob in the yellow roof, at the left of the... brown roofy thing!
We'll have to wait till an update...

That's only true if that roof is actually concave (or is it convex?) - anyway, bulging towards the viewer. If it's sagging (and the edge suggests something cloth and awning-like) the lighting is actually correct.
Nice BG by the way! ;D
Indeed ... now that you say that I see it as concave! Before I was seeing it convex!
Interesting indeed :)
That roof is indeed made of cloth.
Farl: like I said, some shadowing will be aded later.
Lazyness struck me, but I'm going to try to finish it by the end of the day.
EDIT:

That's it, I don't think I'll be working on that one again. Thanks for all the help.
The shadow on the grass at the very left of the picture should be further back; I assume the house has back and side walls since there isn't light coming out through the garage door.
I would use no more than 2 shades of green on the grass tiles. Maybe 3 shades for extra long grass, but I wouldn't have too much of that in the picture. Otherwise, it just looks too scintillating and distracts the viewer's attention from the house.
Cerulean: You're right, wish I noticed that sooner.
Big Brother: Here I've fixed that

Some (mostly shadowing) errors remain, but I just don't want to mess with it anymore. Again, thank you for all the help.
The End.
